Volunteering In Nepal

Project 2013-02-27 05:42:29 +1300

I'm going on a three month volunteering program in Nepal to do conservation work around the Pokhara region. I'm doing this through a volunteering organisation called Projects Abroad which will look after me while I'm there and help me throughout the trip.

I'll be staying with local families while I'm there and working in and around local communities in the region surrounding the town of Pokhara, helping to promote and create sustainable practices and idea.

The whole trip is going to cost over $10,000 including flights so I need all the help I can get to raise the money that my meagre wage at Pak n' Save cannot. Although the goal on this pledgeme page is only $200, I need to fundraise far more that that! So even if that goal is reached, please don't let that stop your kind heart, as the pledges still count after that point.

As well as a conservationist, I'm also a keen photographer so that will be the other main focus of my trip and is the service I can offer to my supporters. I will be keeping a photography-based travel blog on my adventure, with weekly updates on both the conservation and photography side of things.

I haven't got everything on the rewards side of things sorted yet, but there will be an option for a physical print reward. I just don't know how large or what medium it will be on yet sorry. An update will be sent to all pledgers once sorted so they can choose that reward when it is finalised.

Thank you to all of you who have pledged so far, you got me over that $200 goal I had set on here, meaning that the pledges will go through now and I will receive them. However I still have a lot more fundraising to do and the pledges can keep coming infinitely above the $200 mark. That's just the minimum I needed to make this all go through.
I'm still working on the physical-print photos as reward(s) and will update those asap.

Once again please share this around but most of all; thank you. This means a great deal to me.
