About

Fantail Bike Racks- Your Lift To Freedom.

Project 2022-11-29 13:08:08 +1300

Electric bikes is one of the most fastest growing markets in the world, and the people who use e-bikes usually fall into two demographics. Those that use e-bikes for commuting, and those that use their e-bike for leisure.

E-bikes allow people to explore areas of New Zealand that have previously been inaccessible due to either remoteness and geographical location or the age and demographic of the riders.

However one of the potential downsides to having an e-bike is the weight of it, and the hassle of lifting the weighty e-bike onto a standard bike rack.

Most e-bikes weigh in at around the 25kg mark, which means that they are quite heavy and cumbersome to lift.

This invention was created by a retiree and his wife who wanted to go travelling with their e-bikes but found that they were too heavy to lift onto their existing bike rack. When they searched for a product to help them, they found that there was nothing on the market.

So he decided to make one... several years and a few protoypes later he was able to create a bike rack that is ready to take to market and make it easy for e-bikes users to lift up their bikes.

This bike rack allows people to effortlessly load their heavy e-bikes onto the back of their vehicle and travel to and from where they want to ride, rather than having to start and end their e-bike journey at home. The bike rack is sturdy and strong enough to carry 2 e-bikes.

The bike rack attaches to the tow ball on the back of the vehicle and has two lifting arms that are able to be raised and lowered by winding a handle. (The same winding motion as a jockey wheel on a trailer)

All of the heavy lifting is removed by the internal winding mechanism ratio which means that it is easy to lift up the e-bikes from the ground to the back of the vehicle.

Unfortunately the health of the inventor has prevented him from realising his dream, so I have purchased the New Zealand and Australian Patents off him and branded it the Fantail Bike Rack.

The fantail bird is a small adventurous bird that is a great reflection of nature in New Zealand, which is a perfect match for this invention. Whenever most people think of fantails they also think of nature, the outdoors and a free spirit. Small, compact and adventurous all describe the fantail.

My goal is to take the inventors idea and turn it into a commercial reality. Slight modifications are required which will improve the current prototype model and make a more user friendly model. I plan to take this model to market.

Your contribution will help get this product to market and open up windows of opportunity for a large demographic of riders who are currently struggling with finding a hassle free way to get their ebikes onto the back of a vehicle. Maybe you're in this demographic or its someone that you know..

Please feel free to tell others about my campaign and the Fantail Bike Rack.
