What is Howzit?

Howzit is an online platform for immigrant families in New Zealand to connect . It allows you to easily find, connect and build a friendships for you and your family. You will be able to create your family profile and start finding families with similar interests, stories, and backgrounds to connect with right away. Our main goal is to have immigrant families feel connected and settle in well here in New Zealand. That is why we have created this platform.

A little info on the creators of Howzit

I'm a girl from a small town called Rustenburg, in South Africa. My childhood was a real happy one, until I lost my brother - I was 16. My brother was Killed in Action in 1987 - he was only 18. (Oops, did I just give away my age)

Life changed forever for us as a family. My mom died 6 years after the death of my brother and very recently I lost my dad. I have no other siblings. Tragedy didn't keep me down for long, in fact it made me the person I am today. Then, I met Justin ☺️the love of my life. When we first started dating, our idea of romance was sitting around a coffee table, dreaming of our great business ideas and how we will be the masterminds of many successful businesses, how we will have multiple sources of income and how we will raise our children together, while exploring & enjoying life.  Our dates for the past 20 years haven’t changed.

We are an entrepreneurial couple whose life got turned upside down when we decided to immigrate to NZ. For us, community is the crux of a healthy long life, and soon we discovered that we are dying slowly here in NZ, as we haven’t been able to find the community so easily. We found ourselves alone, and lonely.

Leaving friends and family behind is life changing - finding new friends is challenging .  It’s starting from scratch. With this constantly playing in our minds, our longing for friendships and the desire to change this crisis, we came up with our latest initiative. Therefore, we are on a mission to help make immigration easier for others by helping them build friendships and community, in an easy way.

Our business success stories span across a number of industries including film, advertising, photography, design and marketing, which we left behind and we are now  focused on our future here in beautiful New Zealand, where the grass is greener and opportunities abundant.

What will our funds be used for?

We have funded the first phase of our project ourselves, which includes designing and hosting of our Howzit platform, Facebook marketing and print media.

For the second phase, we would like to raise $150 000, which would be used towards the following:

1. Facebook marketing campaigns

2. Printed Marketing materials which will include:

-   Information & Settling in packs for Immigration lawyers, advisers and agencies

-   App development
