The Beginning: Since childhood my friends and I, along with many other individuals around the world collect, trade, and sell various themed cards including anime, comics, and sporting. There is a large card trading market both nationally and globally and what contributes to the success of card trading and success for the consumers is card grading itself.

The Issues: For countries like the USA there are several well-established card grading businesses who have recently re-started since COVID. However, due to logistics, increasing global prices, and a current recession, NZ card traders are finding it increasingly difficult and not worth the investment or time to have cards graded, encapsulated, and returned back to them for personal use (collection, trading, or selling). By creating a local and trusting service which can meet this demand for New Zealanders, I hope to establish KCG as a reputable, authentic, and efficient service.

The purpose and vision: The vision is to have a service for consumers who can send their prized cards (sporting, comic, anime and others) for top-line grading, encapsulating, and labelling in a time-efficient, systematic, and trustingly manner. Tools to achieve the highest level of quality for grading, encapsulating, and labelling have already been invested, i.e. centering tools, camera microscopes, UV lights, jewelry loupes, computer software, high-grade card capsules, and a holographic company authentication sticker. Alongside this, a project model has been established and the card labelling design has been finalised with a systematic grading scale based on the card grading global market. I hope to create this project as a way to provide a service to consumers that in turn helps them minimise expenditure while optimising the quality of their card collections. 

This will improve their trading capacity, and upvalue their card collection on a local and global scale or to sell cards for a higher price so consumers can make more money for their own pockets. I hope with my eye for detail, commitment for success, and background of tertiary education that I can offer a reputable and high-quality customer service to meet consumer demands that exceeds expectations.

Overall service: Every graded card gets labelled and encapsulated. The label shows the card type, final grade (out of 10) and sub-grades (centering, corners, edges, and surface; all out of 10) with a KCG authentication sticker. Encapsulated is the card and label with a specific layout that is unique to the project and company name, with inspiration taken from world renowned card grading companies. All raw materials and execution of the product are designed to obtain the highest-level of quality to meet customer satisfaction. 

The Goal: To reach $5000 to be able to get an ultrasonic welder. The ultrasonic welder will provide pristine and precise sealing of the capsule the card and label will be placed in. This welder uses a process of mechanical vibrations to soften a joint line between the front and the back capsule in less then two seconds. In doing so, cheap adhesives are not going to be used in this service and this process provides a guarenteed air-tight, unbreakable encapsulation for the cards.
