Malawi: Art For Prosperity
Project 2012-02-03 04:52:46 +1300
Malawi is a country targeted by the UN's 2025 Development Goal of extreme poverty eradication. Mike Gondwe and his team of three travel to regions in need and teach art, teach through art, advocate for art education in schools and the revival of traditional, sustainable crafts, and provide professional development.
To Mike, the arts are the engine of economic and social development; and they are the means for education, especially for those not yet literate. I wonder what that means for creative minds in smaller towns in New Zealand, like the one I’m from in Paraparaumu. I want to contribute to Mike's work by enabling him to run another project, and as a bonus, learn something truly unique from him. Please watch my video and make a pledge to help us.
