It’s not hard to see that our education model for delivering learning to our kids is broken. The idea of a free education for all students in Aotearoa New Zealand is a distant memory. All you need to do is look at the headlines to notice there is a short fall of funds in schools.

The shortage in funding is creating a divide between those schools who can pay for resources for learning and those who can’t. Schools and teachers should have access to funding that enhances students hopes, dreams and imaginations. Creating a classroom that is inspirational and most importantly free to all New Zealand kids, is our dream at StudentFirst.

StudentFirst is a platform used by teachers to post up their learning projects for the classroom (inside and out) and the resources they need to make them happen. The learning projects will be posted on to the StudentFirst platform where donors can visit and choose which projects to help. StudentFirst receive and deliver the funds for the teacher to use on the learning project. Donors will be helping kiwi kids get a better education. 

Who is StudentFirst? We are two trained teachers with over 15 years each of teaching experience.

We know first hand the frustrations of not being able to deliver amazing lessons due to classroom budgets and school funding. We also see the rising costs related to providing experiential school field trips, educational software and devices, music instruments and general stationary which are essential for modern learning. We believe every Kiwi kid should get the very best education available.

StudentFirst began as a conversation at work discussing the difficulties of creating great lessons with no funds. Education in the current environment is moving digital faster than ever and the budget has not moved with it. Teachers have amazing ideas that can really spark the interests of students and funding should not be a barrier.

Your Pledge's will be used in two ways;

1. Build an amazing platform for Teachers and Donors to interact. Amazing lessons, trips, resouces and projects will be posted on the platform and Donors and scroll through and decide what projects the want to help.
2. Advertise the StudentFirst platform to both the New Zealand public and New Zealand teachers. We want as many people as possible to visit this platform so Kiwi kids can start experiencing the best possible lessons at school.
