Nabua was my grandmothers village where my father was raised and where I now spend a lot of time, involved in an agro-forestry project. The village is on the shores of Natewa Bay in the north of Fiji, on the second largest Island known as Vanua Levu. It's difficult for the local villagers in raising the funds required for the materials to complete the build, due to the lack of commerce in the area and majority of the residents involved in subsistence farming.
The construction progress has been stalled for a number of years, until donations from overseas based visitors enabled the construction to continue. The build is now 50% complete and any further contributions will help see the project accomplished.
The pledge me campaign (min target) along with a movie fundraiser and village working opportunities should enable the build to continue to 75%-80% completion with the village able to raise funds internally to complete the last 20%-25%.
