I would like to build a platform dedicated to empowering the self employed and changing the way people approach work. For far too long, we are told by a majority of people that our only avenue to success in life, is to get a 9-5 job working for someone else, where in reality anybody can be their own boss, call their own shots and live a life they define as great. I want to break the cycle of people complaining about the difficulty in finding a full time job, and instead open their eyes to the idea of creating their own opportunities as their own boss.

What do you offer and Who do you offer it to?

  • My goal is to build an online marketplace and social networking platform where anybody with a specific skill set, can sign up and sell their skill as a service to a buyer, whether the buyer is an individual or a small business, local or international. The website will serve as a directory for buyers to find the service/job that they would like to purchase, which is sold by the Freelancer.

Why does your idea have value to these customers?

  • It provides a platform for people that want to become self employed, sell their services to buyers that are looking for a specific job done for them (eg. business cards, video editing, programming, lawn mowing, window cleaning etc.) It will also provide value to small businesses and individuals that are looking to outsource and network with skilled Freelancers and Entrepreneurs alike, online or offline. Unlike recruitment agencies, this platform doesn't connect businesses with potential employees, it connects them with Freelancers who take pride in the work that they do on equal footing.

How will you beat your competition?

  • Unlike the other Freelancing online marketplaces, the platform I want to create will provide more convenience and practicality for Freelancers, and to help them successfully sell their service/job. What’s most difficult on other platforms is to outstand the crowd offering the same services as you while being trapped in an ocean of competition. On this platform every seller will have the opportunity to stand out from the rest, using the online tools that will be provided, such as coupons and a customizable sub-domain for each service created to help better promote each job. This will enable sellers to go after buyers, as opposed to waiting for them to "come knocking". On other Freelancing platforms, it is estimated that the majority of sellers do not make a full time living. With this platform it is my mission to make sure that 100% of all sellers have the ability to make a full time living using the tools that are provided, I would like everybody to prosper. One of the key components I'd like to include in the near future is a cloud storage and file sharing feature, which will provide maximum convenience for users to exchange digital products/services directly through the website, without having to rely on an outside platform. It is crucial that this platform is just as much of a social networking website as it is a marketplace. We understand the importance of developing trust between buyers and sellers, as it's another human being that buyers are depending on to get a job done. A video and voice chat option between buyers and sellers will be included, to maximize communications. Each user will have a customize personal profile where they can elaborate on their skills and background, upload photos, post links and add friends. The services that are provided on this platform are not limited to online only, Freelancers can also sell offline services locally.

What differentiates you from the competition?

  • My mission is to normalize Entrepreneurship and change the way the majority of people look at work, through providing the most efficient Freelancing platform on the internet. With the main focuses being practicality and communications. This is not only a freelancing platform, but a company dedicated to giving 'everybody' a chance at being their own boss. One of my goals is to reduce unemployment through self employment. Eventually I would like to work alongside polytechnics and universities, where we will engage with talented students and present to them an opportunity to sell their skills on our platform. I would also like to work alongside Work & Income and eventually social services worldwide, where we will engage with the unemployed and open their eyes to the idea of working for themselves, offering them workshops that teach basic IT and various skills that will set them up for self employment.
