Help me travel to a GREENING CITIES CONFERENCE, MELBOURNE 2012. When: Thursday, November 29, 2012 to Saturday, December 1, 2012. Where: Melbourne, Victoria. http://www. Why I want to go:Concrete is my canvas for greening the cities. I want to get up to speed with all the latest technology and techniques. I wish to start in Wellington and try to convince the authorities to let me paint blank concrete city wall with plants. Here's an example of a new concrete structure:http://www.stuff.co.nz/What can be done to beautify it:http://www.livingwallart.com/I am going to need some official knowledge before I put a proposal to any community or board. Although the Mayor of Wellington likes the idea (as do some who work for CERA, Christchurch), words are not enough. I need some cudos. What do I do:I do some volunteer work up at the local community gardens, where I encourage them to grow High Brix organics. http://www.innermostgardens.I was also asked to develop a cheap technique of Bioremediation to clear thee soils of DDT and other toxins with the use of mushrooms. The last soil tests to come but even though I made many mistakes alone the way, I am confident of success. I have many other environmental projects I am trying to get under way with no funding at the moment but first things first. It is amazing what can be done by cross discipline learning. Most of our environmental problems can be efficiently fixed with a little lateral thinking. What will the funding pay for:I will be in Melbourne for one week, so the money is to pay for all the costs involved and my costs at home, while I'm away. I don't have a job at the moment so have no savings myself. Includes Workshop, tour and dinner. And of course, cheap accommodation and food etc.It is also to pay for a biological farming workshop in the Wairarapa, NZ and all the associated costs with that: Introduction to Microscopes October 26th, 2012, Waipukurau, Central Hawkes Bay Integrity Soils. This is to sharpen my skills with Organic growing. |
