The Monthly Co.
The Monthly Co. is a new social enterprise which aims to provide a service for the delivery of 100% organic cotton tampons to-your-door, with every purchase resulting in a donation to women women in need.
We’re a collective of women supporting women. For every order we send out to our paying subscribers, we donate a box of tampons to women in need through our charitable partners such as Aviva.
Our mission is two fold: to make 100% Organic tampons more affordable and convenient for women on the go while at the same time restoring dignity to at-risk women who have limited access to safe feminine hygiene.
PledgeMe: Why you should order now!
Help us make The Monthly Co. a reality! With your support and pre-orders of our subscriptions we can order our first shipment of tampons from Europe to get The Monthly Co. up and running. Our goal is to raise $15,000 - we need to sell at least half of our shipment in subscription pre-orders to meet this goal!
We’re offering a number of rewards to recognise those that help us reach our target, including pre-orders of our tampon subscriptions.
We’ve partnered with Aviva (formerly the Christchurch Women’s Refuge). Aviva help individuals and families to become - and stay - free of violence. Check out their website to find out more about the awesome work they do: http://www.avivafamilies.org.nz.
Aviva currently receive donations of food and clothing from members of the public, but often people forget to donate hygiene products such as tampons, so for every order we send out, we will donate a box of tampons to Aviva who will distribute them to women in need. We’re working to bring on new charitable partners across the country so we fulfil our mission of restoring dignity to at-risk women who have limited access to safe feminine hygiene.
By donating or pre-ordering your subscription today you are directly helping women in need!
The Monthly Co. tampons are made from 100% organic cotton - free from wood pulp fibres, pesticides, chlorine bleach, fragrances, GMO’s, BPA or synthetic coating. This means the only thing in contact with your body is naturally absorbent 100% pure organic cotton.
Better for the Environment: On average women use more than 11,000 tampons and/or pads a lifetime, that’s enough to fill at least TWO bath tubs with tampons! Synthetic or conventional cotton tampons use a number of harsh chemicals, contaminating soils and water systems and can take many years to break down. Our 100% organic tampons are 100% biodegradable.
Two sizes: The Monthly Co. 100% organic tampons come in two sizes - regular and super. We also offer a combo order of half regular and half super. We plan on offering more options and product varieties in the future.

Our Campaign Friends
We are so grateful to have the support of these awesome local New Zealand businesses as our campaign friends - their wonderful products are available as a bundle with one of our tampon subscriptions, or if you don't need tampons for yourself you can still support by getting a Fix and Fogg PB or a Little Yellow Bird tee embroidered with our campaign slogan.
We are also excited to announce that our first 100 Pledgers will go in the draw to WIN a $200 Cakes By Anna Voucher!

Is The Monthly Co. a charity? The Monthly Co. is a social enterprise. We aim donate at least 20,000 tampons from our first shipment of tampons, through our women supporting women pledge.
What is a social enterprise? The Ākina Foundation defines a social enterprise as providing a ‘means to improve social wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and economic performance in Aotearoa New Zealand’. Here at The Monthly Co., we are purpose-driven to have a strong positive environmental and social impact through our ethical and sustainable business model and women supporting women pledge.
What is your ‘women supporting women' pledge? The Monthly Co. is a social enterprise with a two fold mission: to make tampons more affordable and convenient for women on the go while at the same time restoring dignity to at-risk women who have limited access to safe feminine hygiene. For every order we ship to you, we donate a box of tampons to women in need through our charitable partner Aviva. This means everytime you get your period, you're supporting another women.
We aim donate at least 20,000 tampons to women in need from our first shipment of tampons.
Who are your charitable partners? We are pleased to have partnered with Aviva (formerly the Christchurch Women's Refuge) and as we expand we hope to bring on more charitable partners across New Zealand.
What are The Monthly Co. tampons made from? The Monthly Co. tampons are made from organic cotton and our tampon boxes are recyclable. The Monthly Co. tampons are 100% biodegradable, they do not contain chlorine, fragrances, synthetics, chemicals or dyes.
Why organic? Our 100% organic cotton tampons are soft, pure, absorbent and breathable, without the nasties that can be found in synthetic or non-organic cotton tampons. Not only are they better for the environment and 100% biodegradable, many women who experience irritation from other products experience relieved symptoms when shifting to organic.
Where are The Monthly Co. tampons produced? Our tampons are manufactured in Europe (under fair labour laws and working conditions) from a GOTS certified factory (Global Organic Textiles Standard). GOTS is the worldwide leading standard for organic textiles like cotton. GOTS certification ensures our cotton is ethically sourced - it protects workers rights by ensuring voluntary employment, safe working conditions, fair wages and absolutely no child labour.
How many tampons are in each box? Our tampon boxes contain 8 100% organic tampons. Our slim line packaging is designed to fit easily into a bag to carry with you on the go. The minimum order requirement is 2 boxes, a total of 16 tampons. You can order two boxes of either regular or super tampons or a combo order with one box regular and one box super.
Do you stock pads or liners or other products? We are currently working on finding a sustainable and ethical supplier of pads and liners and also moon cups so we can introduce new products to our range while still giving back to women in need, stay tuned for product announcements and updates!
What kind of plastic do you use on your products? We are working hard to move the plastic wrapper component of our tampons to biodegradable plastics, the products themselves are 100% biodegradable. Unfortunately many biodegradable plastics do not actually compost in home systems and have a poor shelf life. As soon as we can find a biodegradable plastic material that is fully biodegradable, isn't cost prohibitive and has an appropriate shelf life, we will be making the shift. In the meantime, our tampon plastic wrapper can be recycled with other soft plastics at many local recycling facilities.
When will they be delivered? Our service is customisable to suit your needs and preferences. You can choose to have your order delivered monthly or bi-monthly for a length of 6 months or 12 months. Alternatively, you can select a one off order or monthly delivery for 3 months. We aim to get your orders to your door on the first day of every month.
If we are successful in reaching our PledgeMe target we will be able to order our first shipment of tampons from Europe. However, our shipment could take up to 2 months to arrive by sea frieght but we would aim to have your first monthly delivery to your door as soon as possible.
What is a bi-monthly order? A bi-monthly order means we will send you 2 months worth of tampons every second month for your subscription length, so you will never be caught short again!
I don't live in New Zealand, do you ship internationally? We hope to expand our shipping beyond New Zealand as we grow, keep following us for updates.
I can’t find the answer to my question in this FAQ’s? Please feel free to send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll do our best to answer your question.
Thank you for your support!
