Copper

Project 2012-01-17 21:46:30 +1300

'Copper' is the story of a Deaf child whose world is changed when he meets a Living Statue. This ten-minute short is the next film from film and theatre director Jack O’Donnell. Our aim is to create a striking visual film for submission to film festivals. The film is being shot in Wellington on 26-29 January.

The film itself details a family drama between two hearing parents and their Deaf child - the father is a failed actor turned street performer while the mother, being much closer with their child (she has learned sign language and actually has a 'real' job) is quite conservative and doesn't understand her son's needs to 'break out' creatively. The twists and turns of the characters culminate in a dramatic moment on the street, in which the child's life is changed forever when he encounters his father performing as a Living Statue. This leads to the three of them 'understanding', - should be quite poignant.

We believe that this film will introduce more Hearing audiences to the problems and issues surrounding the Deaf world and families with Deaf children.

We have turned to PledgeMe to help fund our Catering! Can't have hungry actors! We're looking at receiving funding so that we can pay some caterers to feed our crew!
