On May 19th, I head away on a climbing expedition to the Indian Himalayas and would love to have a more advanced camera to record the expedition.
I am a amateur adventure photographer from the central South Island. I am fundraising so that I can purchase a new camera and lenses. I currently shoot on a Canon400d and the camera is on its last legs.
I plan to shoot high quality photos and video of the expedition.
I would like to focus on a photojournalism essay and potentually a short film on mentorship, friendship and teamwork in the mountains!
The camera itself costs:
Sony A7R ii-$5100
Then I wish to buy the following lenses:
Sonnar T Fe 35mm f2.8Za
: $1300
Sony vario sonnar 24-70mm f2.8 Za/ssm ii :$1900
Fe 70-200mm F4 G OSS:
$2300

Miyar Valley Expedition 2017:
Climbers: Llewellyn Murdoch, David Shotwell, Nick Cradock, and Allison Swintz
Nick Craddock has been my climbing mentor since I was 12 years old. It will be a great experience to complete this expedition together in this very difficult area! We will share this expedition with our friend and climbing partner Dave Shotwell, and Allison Swintz, who is also a climbing partner and my wife.
All members of the expedition are very experienced alpinists. Collectively we have travelled all over the world to climb on rock walls and mountains in the greater ranges. Previous expeditions include: Expeditions to the Indian Himalayas with successful ascents of Ali Ratni Tibba, Bhagarathi 2, Shiviling, Kedernath Dome, 2 Expeditions in Alaska(2012&2015), NZAC sponsored Murdoch-Gilmour Expedition to Patagonia(2013-14), Big wall climbing in Madagascar (2015). Big wall climbing in Yosemite and Zion. Alpine rock climbing extensively throughout the USA. Numerous high quality new routes in the Darran Mountains and Southern Alps of New Zealand.
My team and I are embarking on a climbing expedition to the Himalaya of India in May 2017.The team will meet in Delhi on May 20th 2017. Take road transport to Manali. Spend two days here organising food and provisions, meet the cook and cook's helper. Leaving Manali, we will travel by road over the Rohtang Pass, into lahaul and eventually the road end for Miyar Valley. Ponies will then be hired for our three day trek into base camp.
The area has a myriad of objectives, specifically great alpine and big wall rock climbing. It is a fantastic venue for self-supported, remote adventure climbing.
We plan to spend the month of June 2017 attempting Never Seen Tower and Shangrilla Ridge. Access is via the Tawa Glacier (Chhudong Glacier) and a lightweight advanced base camp will be needed. We plan to have a cook and cooks helper at the base camp for the duration of the trip.
