STEM Learning at Little Citizens

Providing children with high quality learning and development opportunities is our number one priority at Little Citizens – and giving children with opportunity to explore and develop their science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills will provide them with a head start at school and create pathways for future learning.

STEM education has a major influence on children’s development. STEM education involves developing skills and knowledge to investigate the living, physical, material, and technological components of the environment and making sense of them in logical and creative ways. An understanding of STEM concepts at an early age increases the likelihood of positive educational outcomes and STEM capability is increasingly important in the modern job market where entry level work is frequently technology-based, and where higher school and tertiary qualifications are increasingly necessary.

The Science and Technology Centre will enable pre-school children to begin their STEM development with hands-on investigation and fun experiments with high-tech science equipment. The use of equipment will be supported by high-quality teaching, with each child’s development tracked with milestones to make sure they start school with all the skills and knowledge they need to thrive.
