AT THE CROSS ROADS
We're a small crew of talented individuals and cast with star quality and good track record.
Hello my name is Vanessa de Silva, I have personally worked on over 5 student
short films including my own and three others for the 48 hour film festival. This short film is being made as my final third year film project for my bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at University of Canterbury. I have written the script together with a friend of mine. I am the director, producer and editor of this short film and have a great crew working alongside me.
So what is AT THE CROSS ROADS all about?
This story AT THE CROSS ROADS is about a young bandit finally caught for his crimes against the state by a notorious law man, Marshall E. Brown.
Over the course of the journey they face personal challenges and overcoming any odds the the wild west may throw at them along the way, the both gain a new respect towards each other.
Faced by an ambush of outlaws, the Bandit is given a choice of freedom, but at a price. Drama unfolds in the ultimate test of redemption.
We've done the hard yards:
This short film is being made as my final third year film project for my Bachelor of Fine arts Degree at University of Canterbury. I have written the script alongside a friend of mine. I am the director and producer as well as editor for this short film and have a great crew working alongside me. I am also teamed up with a talented composer
With Kiwi ingenuity and a lot of passion and heart we are 2/4 done. I need your support to complete AT THE CROSS ROADS to the 'professional finish' it deserves by enabling us to involve talented actors and allow us to be on location for up to 5 days in the isolated Canterbury Plains, covering cost of crew and cast, costumes and props and the hiring and transport of horses. What's a western without horses?
What are you going to do with the film?
I aim for hundreds of people to see AT THE CROSS ROADS at the screening that has been organised at Reading Cinemas in Christchurch in October this year. I also aim to enter it into selected New Zealand and International Film Festivals.
Have I made films before?
Yes i have worked on over 6 short films including my own as well as apart of three different teams for 48 hour film festival.
When do we begin filming?
August 19th, 20th and 21st - Out on location in Arthur's Pass, Canterbury
August 27th and 28th - In Studio on set
