About

Miss Fletcher Sings The Blues

Project 2014-04-06 22:16:07 +1200

Hayley Sproull, aka Miss Fletcher, is fast becoming one of New Zealand’s most exciting young comedians. She’s a little bit crass, a smidge crazy, and all class. She has been called the country’s ‘next Flight of the Conchords’, which she reads as meaning she has the talent of two people in one body, but we are unsure if that’s how it was intended to be read.

Right now, she needs your help to wing her way to Edinburgh – land of laughs, lochs and lasses! And lads.

That’s right - we are taking our hit comedy show Miss Fletcher Sings the Blues to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2014, putting it to the test in front of its first international audience at one of the gorgeous underground venues - Just The Tonic – the perfect home for this confronting teacher with good intentions, Miss Fletcher.

Miss Fletcher has already had six successful seasons throughout New Zealand and earned itself numerous accolades including winning the Contact Energy Peoples Choice Award at NZ Fringe Festival 2014 and Best Wellington Newcomer at the 2012 New Zealand International Comedy Festival. Sproull’s YouTube video hits, sit in the ten thousands, prompting one viewer to virtually propose.

We think Edinburgh is ready for The Fletch. But The Fletch isn’t QUITE ready for Edinburgh.

You see; taking Miss Fletcher to Edinburgh is going to require $25,000 from us. The Miss Fletcher Team was prepared for this and have been working hard to reach this budget.

$5000 is all we need from you – not you individually (though we wouldn’t say no), but rather you collectively – to support this show, it’s future and it’s potential.

SHOW SYNOPSIS

Miss Fletcher Sings the Blues is a musical comedy with educational benefits. A well-meaning, but slightly unhinged music teacher treats an unwitting geography class to a surprise music lesson. Tackling the big issues of the world, her songs such as “Facebook” and "Moustache Paradise" make for a hilarious performance.
