Hi There from Clyma Park Community Garden

We are a group of volunteer local residents and a school that wanted to make something special in a council park. We are award winners of the 2011 Wellington regional community awards for heritage & environment.

We are at Clyma Park, off Fraser Crescent, Upper Hutt.

Our rules are to;

- Promote the community at the garden by community events e.g. Sky lantern festival and BBQs

- Involvement of Fraser Crescent School and its children

- Food to Table principles

- Beautify a park of what was a mowing strip

We have a 5 year plan and have self funded a 30 tree orchard, 22 raised beds, 3 large community beds, 4 seats (so far), a notice board, a citrus / feijoa orchard, espalier trees and berry bush area to name a few. Apart from the raised beds we have a 'pick your own' policy, just leave some for the next person.

We plan to use your donations to finish our 5 year plan in just over 3 years, We would like to raise 2,000$ for the final seating for our pergola. We have already paid for the pergola and the two completed seats, however we only have enough money for part of seats 3 & 4. Your donations will pay for the frame and wood of the remaining seats and finsh off our plans.

If you wish to donate then we will reference your name on our noticeboard (see video). Those keen to donate over 500$ we'll place a brass name plate on one of the seats. You then become a permanent fixture.

We think Clyma Park Community Garden should be remain special. Please contribute and make a positive contribution to our future community. ;-)
