Cobb Valley Rest Area Fix

Along the Cobb Valley Road in Upper Takaka, Golden Bay, there a scenic rest area. Over the years it has been used for many different activities, including camping, trout fishing and outdoor events (including The Gathering).
During the summer time, the area is used quite frequently for outdoor parties and tourist camping, which over the last 10 years, has meant the megre utility on the land (namely a composting toilet/long drop) has seen a lot of use and has fallen into disrepair. Being that this beautiful area is on council land and is quite a drive from Takaka township, it receives little to no attention from the local council or DOC, so me and a friend have taken it upon ourselves to put some love, time and energy back into a place that we have been enjoying since we were teenagers
We would like to be able to raise enough funds to afford the materials to fix up the toilet, build a lean-to for the shelter and presevation of any timber/building materials that are left over during events, plant new native trees, and rebuild the old fire pit. Here is a detailed description:
TOILET
- New corrugated iron sheets for leaky roof
- Timber for new door frame
- PVC pipe for new flu
- Plywood for new interior
- Paint for outside surface
LEAN-TO
- Timber for structure
- Corrugated iron sheets for roof
The lean-to will be built here at the back of the scenic area
FIRE PIT
- Cement for motar
NATIVE TREES
The only cost for this will be mulch and soil conditioner. The actual natives will be sourced by us
There is a lot more expenditure on top of this (as we will be using a lot of our own resources), such as building materials, tools, travel cost etc, but we feel this is a small price to pay to fix and maintain this wonderful place. Hopefully we can achieve the relatively small goal of $400, so we can get this project off the ground asap and have the site ready for this years influx of campers, tourists, fishers and festival patrons!
Blessings
