Kalopsia Sky

Project 2013-07-19 02:12:04 +1200

Kalopsia Sky is a new and visually stunning theatrical piece between visual artist Rebecca Phillips and theatre practitioners Catherine Croft, co founders of Frank Creation Theatre.
We are excited to be colloborating with Hayley Brown, a theatre practitioner who has experience making her own work with Talking Mute Theatre Company and working with Red Leap Theatre.
The show will make its debut at the Basement in Auckland in October.

Set in an Auckland backyard in the middle of spring, Kalopsia Sky follows an old friendship forced back together by unusual circumstances and looks at what holds us together when it seems like nothing can anymore.

Sarah Clair has got it all worked out she knows what she is doing, why she is doing it and how long it is going to take. A high achiever from before five, she always does her best in any situation. Ella on the other hand, is a personal train wreak and has just been hit by a car. She was on her last leg of an extended gap year overseas and is spending sometime in Auckland before going back down south, never sticking at the same job longer than 3 months.

With Ella just out of the emergency room, Sarah Clair offers her a place to stay till she comes right. After all, a catch up is long overdue and she can catch up on what needs doing in the garden. But nothing is ever that simple.

The show will use Rebecca's projected art to create a world which will surround the actors and slowly change over time. As the show unfolds and the friendship is tested, the world follows suit, disintegrating from a beautiful garden into a kaleidoscope of images now unrecognisable.

Woven throughout the show are questions that the world faces now, climate change, and what do we do about it. What is the moral compass we choose and how does that define how we choose to act?

The work will look at what we value today while creating a piece of theatre that is touching, provocative and beautiful. But we need your help! The money raised from your generous donations will go towards the projectors needed to create the atmosphere which is so vital to the show.

Also, one of our shows will be a charity fundraiser.. the night and charity are yet to be announced. If you are interested in what we are doing feel free to jump over to Facebook and like our page to kept up to date with our progress as we near the opening of our very first show!

We also have a website, which you can check out here.
