About my journey:
In March 2013 I attended the Triathlon National Champs in Wellington and managed to qualify for the New Zealand team to compete at the 2013 Age Group Triathlon World Champs to be held on the 15th of September in London. In September I will be travelling as part of the New Zealand team at which I will compete in the 20-24yr age group racing across a standard distance triathlon (1500m Swim, 40km Cycle, 10km Run). Although I am at the bottom end of this age group I am treating this journey as a stepping stone, my goal is to place within the top 20 setting myself up for a podium finish in the few years to come and then hopefully leading on to elite representation. It has always been a dream of mine to represent my country through sport and this is the first step towards what I believe to be a great adventure.
Due to the size of the team competing at these world champs and the amateur status, this trip is completely individually funded. As a result I have been working part time whilst training and studying as a student to help fund this trip. This trip is estimated to cost $7000 including the major essentials of flights & accommodation, race entry fees, compulsory travel insurance and international race licence. I am not asking you to fund my whole trip, as with the help of previous fundraising and the hours I have been working I have already managed to raise/earn a fair amount however I still need a little more support to fulfil my dream. Every little bit that you can donate will go a long way as I strive to represent my country at the Triathlon World Champs!
