Brides: The Movie
Project 2013-04-26 08:31:06 +1200
What is marriage? We invited Wellingtonians - male and female, straight and gay, all ages - to try on a wedding dress and give us their version of what marriage is all about. The project was called Brides - a Dress-up Conversation, and now we want to take the 100+ interviews we have gathered and edit them into a short film.
We want to finish this process in time to make a late submission to the International Film Festival in July. We have all the footage captured and uploaded, now we just need a small amount of money to pay a professional editor to work with our director Jo Randerson to make something of cinema quality.
This is a thrilling and timely investigation into the nature of marriage. It celebrates diversity, courage and has a lovely quality of intimacy. It's a beautiful reflection of NZers and their lives and loves at a pivotal turning point for human rights in our nation's (and the world's) legislative history.
