So you know when you've recorded a full studio album in wardrobes & radio stations & some fulla's basement & out the window of your house & in your spare room in between your infant sleeping.....
... THEN you realise that even though you've gone to silly lengths like putting on a dress to win a studio microphone and developing 5 ulcers on the back of your throat from pulling a 10 day intense vocal session you didn't quite figure out how you were going to pay to release the bloody thing..... Yeah, us too.
So we've come up with a GENIUS plan. Instead of you guys bouncing from one tippy toe to the other with "ermagherd I'm gunnapee!" anticipation for us to come up with the funds YOU - that's right YOOOOUUUU can buy a whole HEAP of awesome Into The East thingmies and doohickies for CRAYCRAY pennies & as a collective you get to say you made us rich & famous (or at the very least, that you helped two Southlanders take their hearts & souls to the rest of kiwiland.)
'Fight From The Inside' is an album that's been 9 years in the making & a year in production. It is a journey from panic to peace, from failure to fantasy & from longing to fulfilling. We spent 3 weeks locked in Radio Southland in pre-production playing with sounds, harmonies & making sure every track is exactly what it should be. Then we went into the recording process & each song threw its own curve ball, coming out better than we imagined. Translation = we are so incredibly proud of ourselves & our work & we simply cannot put it on a shelf & wait till the piggy bank is full.
We are fundraising in every way we can think of to achieve our target which will cover the Mastering, Replication & Promotion (which is a HUGE part in the whole process. Ever heard of anyone ever? Promotion, baby!) Spread the word & get on board! x Liv & Graeme Into The East

Hello to our favourite people in the world!
Before I get into the finer details, thought I'd let you know that thanks to your efforts we've now got a national campaign going that's attracted the attention of some awesome companies & individuals who have jumped on board with our tour!
You will find out about this in the coming weeks!
RIGHT, so the most important thing is that you are about to receive an email requesting your address for those who pledged for a physical reward - for those who pledged for a digital reward, we will send you a download code soon!
The apple pies are the first things to go out as we were donated BEAUTIFUL organic apples by Anna van Riel & The Nook Road crew (go check out Anna's website for the inspiring music & sustainability ventures she's about to embark on: www.annavanriel.com )
A reminder - if you're not in Southland but pledged for a food reward we can't send these to you - so unless you're keen on trekking southward, we'll have to come up with something else - a digital download of the album is a good swap! (Just don't try & put your computer in the oven or smother it with cream.)
Cheese rolls & Bikkies are next week (Cheers to Whittakers Chocolate Company for climbing aboard with that one! It's been incredibly difficult not to consume the huge amount of Dark Ghana Chocolate sitting on top of my freezer.)

Oh, man. We are so incredibly overwhelmed!
Proper update after the weekend (play the Catlins River Festival on SUnday at 1:30pm... see you there for a victory dance)
Thanks so much to absolutely everyone who has pledged & to those who continued to pledge after the goal was reached. SO what happens now?
Well we have 21 days to try and raise as much as possible. The AWESOMELY SUPER-DEE DUPER news is our album is going to be mastered & replicated. On from here we need PR & Distribution in order to get on NZ & Australian Radio. PR is essentially publicity & Distribution is getting the Physical CD round record stores & Digitally on the likes of iTunes.
The more people we can convince to pre-order the album through our PledgeMe campaign, the easier it's going to be to sell it to everyone else once it drops!
Keep spreading the word & give yourselves a standing ovation.

What a difference 10 days make...

WOW.
Just.... WOW.
10 days in and we've almost hit our goal. I understand that this update goes out to all of those who have pledged so far. You guys have made us feel like we're doing the right thing. Both Graeme & I for the past year and a bit have felt like we've been doing this alone - battling the local scene to get heard & getting shut down a LOT by folk who were all over us like a rash when we were playing covers to drunks.
All of a sudden, we have been given a chance. We played at a Festival (Waihi Bush - do it) and the crowd danced & SANG our songs. We were then offered free use of Little Fire Studio (Roger Chilton & Hayden Budd - thank you, we were cheshire catting about that one for weeks!) and THEN this happens.
Far too cool. Far too generous & far too overwhelming. Knowing now that we might actually get this thing done? Amazing. Simply & completely amazing.
Both of us have had teary moments over it lately - we are so chuffed with the efforts of everyone so far from ourselves through to the guest musicians on 'Fight From The Inside' and on to our fans.
Stick with us, kids.
I think we might actually get somewhere.

Hey youse fullas - too much!
Massive thanks goes out to our first pledgers - raised $80 in the first hour. We're not sure if that's good, bad or ugly but considering that's about the amount we raise when busking for a few hours - we're absolutely STOKED!
Helping us out through PledgeMe means we don't have to put all of our energy into funding - which ultimately means Graeme will do a better job on the album mixing & I can concentrate on booking up our tour & finding awesome supporters (like yourselves, I might add).
Many loves hiffed in your direction.
