Hi, my name is Paris Heyd and along with Regan Wilson we are the two players from Dunedin SELECTED TO BE A PART OF THE NEW ZEALAND ICE BLACKS IN 2013.
The Ice Blacks are New Zealands National Ice Hockey team. As Ice Hockey in NZ is a minority sport, we do not get much funding and playing fees year after year can quickly add up. This year it will cost $4000 to play for our country, not counting any equipment. As well as working and studying full time, we still train the same amount as pro-athletes.
All the money raised here will be split between us, and will go towards paying for our airfares and coaching costs. We are required to go to a training camp in the Czech Republic a week before the tournament which begins on the 21st of April in Turkey. This year New Zealand will be playing against Israel, China, Bulgaria, Mexico, and Turkey.
We both play for the Dunedin Thunder in the NZ Ice Hockey League but it is our dream to represent New Zealand on the world stage and we have both been fortunate enough to have this opportunity. We would like to thank you in advance for all your contributions to our passion, and invite you to follow our success at the 2013 World Ice Hockey Championships!
Results of the games will be available here - http://www.iihf.com/competition/350/statistics.html

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that has pledged us so far, we never expected to be nearly halfway there already!
We are off to Auckland for our last training camp in NZ this weekend then the next time the team gets together will be for the departure for training camp in Prague! We are both very excited and it means a lot to see all the support we are receiving so once again thank you. Paris and Regan
