The Kiwi Diary is an A5 paper diary adorned with content from many talented kiwis, a book designed to celebrate and build pride in Aotearoa. With your help, it can go to print!

On the outside, Kiwi Diary is your regular A5 diary (an essential life item - tell us you don't own an A5 notebook!)  But on inside, the diary concept is transformed into a beautiful collision of creativity and handy info, designed to inspire and delight the curious mind at every page turn in '24. 

What began is a fun project to celebrate kiwiana and what makes us uniquely Kiwi - hokey pokey, jandals, te reo, te tiriti, no. 8 wire, beach weddings, Lynn of Tawa, Billie T, Sir Ed, "she'll be right", Stead, Frame and Baxter - has evolved into a platform for creativity ideas and cultural debate.

Kiwi Diary is an annual zietgiest of Kiwi culture each year, a decompartmentalised pick'n'mix of cultural artefacts: art, poetry, recipes, illustrations, articles, and more.

Specs (matter!) 2024 format: A beautiful durable hardcover, designed to last beyond 2024 as a treasured keepsake, with convenient elastic closer and ribbon bookmark - see below. (design tbc!)

Goals of The Kiwi Diary

- to celebrate and showcase Kiwi culture and creativity
- to delight and inform, planting good seeds in the garden of your heart and mind
- to share ideas to support our planet and people to thrive
- to build a sense of pride in, and connection with, Aotearoa New Zealand.

The KD Philosophy

What does it do to us, to live in a world overloaded with information? Much of it of the negative variety?  Can we shape our information landscape to support a better pathway forward? The Kiwi Diary mission is inspired by yoga psychology - that our information diet matters.

Information shapes our inner world - how feel, think, thus believe and act towards the world and ourselves.  KD is the green smoothie of your information diet - to make a positive difference, no matter how small. Kiwi Diary celebrates some of those invisible things that give meaning, and hold the world together - inspiration, community and creativity.

Our curation ethos is designed to bring a sparkle to your heart and soul, with a theme of good values, wisdom and what truly matters: a healthy society and a healthy environment, te taiao, he tangata. And brightly coloured A5 books ;-)

Who are we?

The Kiwi Diary design crew are four friends, all graphic designers, and all parents, who share a love of design, communication, and of caring for our big blue home -  Freda Wells, Lou Wallace, Sarah Weidig and Caspian Ievers.
We love this project as a vehicle to spread a bit of daily aroha and joy.

Our Why

Kiwi Diary is a daily tonic for when we're feeling busy, overwhelmed or disconnected - to help cultivate a bit of inspiration and empowerment.

The Kiwi Diary creation process is ongoing and isn't without its sacrifices, but the reward is sharing the goodness for a whole year with you!  Help us keep the inspiration-cycle going!

We hope the 2024 diary can do its bit to encourage and inspire positive change.

To paraphrase some old quotable wisdom: Its about keeping beautiful plants growing in the garden of your mind, as our thoughts become our words, our words become our actions, our actions become our habits, and our habits become our values, and our destiny.
