I'm A Star – Kids Magazine
Project 2022-09-03 16:58:06 +1200
I‘m A Star is a fun magazine for kids. It is an invitation to children to tap into their curiosity, to connect with and explore the wonders of our everyday world. The magazine introduces all kinds of topics in a playful and fun way. I‘m A Star offers children the opportunity to look closer and see things from a new perspective. It helps our kids to stay curious about those small things in life (the things that us adults often forget to pay attention to). I‘m A Star is all about finding out what gives our children joy. This magazine also has mindfulness practices scattered throughout the pages, designed to help kids practice just being present, in the moment – to stay connected and tune in to find their star inside!
The author believes that we can all shine, by just being our beautiful selves. When cultivating awareness and curiosity for our surroundings and our world, we learn to follow our bliss - a skill that contributes greatly to life satisfaction.
I'm A Star is created for kids aged 4 - 10, but I think anyone can discover things, they didn't know about.
The theme of volume 1 of I‘m A Star Magazine is, ‘LOTS AND LOTS’. How do lots and lots of things create something incredible and beautiful? Find out about stars, water droplets and cells. What do they form when put together? How does it all work?
210mm x 270mm, 70 pages and lots and lots of fun!
With your help I'll be able to get I'm A Star printed!
Your pledge will go towards the printing of the magazine. This will be a local (New Zealand-based) printing company. The magazine will be printed on recycled, environmentally responsible paper.
Any leftover pledges will support my work, hopefully a future issue or issues of I‘m A Star! I already have plenty of ideas : )
** Please note that reward prices include New Zealand non-rural postage. However, I will have to work out pricing for rural or overseas postage. There might be an increase in pricing depending on where you are in the world.
Hi, my name is Sarah. I studied Media and Graphic Design at the University of Applied Science in Münster, Germany. After working for a couple of years in the field of motion graphics, web design and 3D animation, I discovered my passion for illustration. After becoming the mum of two girls (now aged 8 and 10), I no longer wanted to sit in front of the computer all day. So my illustrations became more ‘hand made‘, which led me to the mixed media artworks I use in I‘m A Star magazine.
As my daughters grew up, I started to become very interested in psychology, brain function / growth mindset and mindfulness. The more I read, the more I was hooked on fascinating topics about our brain and how we engage with the world around us. A lot of the ideas I learned about, are reflected in the magazine.
I am passionate about creating a kinder and more ethical future for our kids. So you won't find any plastic, ads or stereotypes in I'm A Star!
*Please note, this is still a work in progress. Pages might vary than seen in the pictures now.
