**STRETCH GOAL**
$12,000 means BOBBY GETS A BOWL CUT
A huge thank you to everyone who helped us meet our minimum target. We are thrilled! We only have a few more days left of our campaign and our co-founder Bobby just agreed that if we can reach our stretch goal of $12,000 - he'll get a BOWL CUT!!
The more we raise, the sooner we can make Reusabowl a reality (and see Bobby with a bowl) - so let's do it! Thank you so much for your support.

Why we're here
What is Reusabowl?
Reusabowl is a reusable takeaway container service.
No need to remember your own container.
Now you’ll always have a waste-free option at the checkout.
How it works
Imagine you're ordering from your favourite takeaway shop. Instead of getting your meal in a throw-away container, now you can choose to borrow a reusable one.
Eat and enjoy. Next time you’re out and about, simply return the container to any partner retailer or Reusabowl drop location.
We offer an easy option for food retailers and customers to reduce single-use waste.
Our journey
Reusabowl was born at the Climathon NZ startup weekend and our team was accepted into the Zero Carbon Challenge accelerator programme in June 2019.
In July we ran our first test run at the Sunday Harbourside Market in Wellington using a reusable bowl prototype made from bamboo fibre. The four food vendors we approached happily stocked our bowls - one even gave a discount to customers to choose the reusable option!
We received resoundingly positive feedback from customers and together diverted stacks of waste in just a few hours.
Our goal is to replace all single-use with Reusabowls across our cities, in all shops, across Aotearoa.
Now we need your help to make it happen.
Our roadmap
We’re on the hunt to find or create the ideal container that suits all food types (sushi, curry, tacos, you name it). We also want to avoid introducing more plastic into the system so we’re investigating materials like bamboo fibre and rice husk for our containers. With your support we can finish development and produce a set of prototypes to start piloting the system.
Our pilot
To ensure we create the easiest system for you, our users - we need to start testing it.
We have two pilots planned to help us refine our model:
- Markets - We’re partnering with the Wellington Sunday Harbourside Market to stock Reusabowl containers for a beta pilot.
- Offices - We’re partnering with offices to lunch waste free. During a pilot in Te Aro, Reusabowls will be available at nearby partner retailers for employees to use. Offices will receive a custom drop bin in their lunchroom with pick-ups of used containers.
Your funds will help us to
- Finish prototyping and produce our first set of takeaway containers
- Test the model at scale during our pilot
With those learnings we can take the next step to bringing a reusable takeaway solution to Aotearoa!
Nice to meet you
We are friends turned co-founders who were tired of seeing single-use packaging and plastic littering Aotearoa and washing up on beaches around the world.
We believe reducing waste doesn’t mean you have to say no - it’s working together as a society to redesign our systems so we can make sustainable choices easy, universal and accessible, and live in harmony with the natural world.
Our small choices add up - if we act together we can make them count.
Thank you to our friends and family who support us and to everyone reading this who cares deeply about this beautiful country and wants to show that if we change our habits, we can change the world!
A huge thank you to Chris Callus for his videography and animation skills. And to the mentors of the Zero Carbon Challenge for their support throughout this process.

So tell me more about this container…
Glad you asked! Reusabowl takeaway containers will be made out of a biodegradable polymer - we are currently testing bamboo fibre and rice husk. This type of material is durable, reusable and ultimately returns to the soil at the end of its life. Your PledgeMe support will enable us to bring our prototypes into production so we can start testing a reusable system and bring it to life.

Bobby got the bowl!

Kia ora everyone,
We are overwhelmed by the response in the last few days of our PledgeMe. We hit our stretch goal of $12,000 - in fact we exceeded it!
Our campaign closes in less than 1 hour and we have nearly hit $13,000 thanks to you.
And that means… BOBBY GOT THE BOWL CUT!! Sarah had the honour of hairdresser and the fearless Bobby took the plunge when we hit the $12,000 mark on Thursday evening, to roaring applause. For friends and whānau who couldn’t be there in person, we streamed the entire thing on our Instagram stories @reusabowlnz.
Thank you again for all your support over the past two months. We look forward to sending out rewards in the coming weeks, and for the next stage of Reusabowl.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend, and we'll be in touch soon.
xx Team Reusabowl
THANK YOU and update - Bobby needs a bowl cut!

We cannot express how amazing it feels to know over 181 epic people in Aotearoa and abroad care about our team and our mission, and are acting to see sustainable change happen in the world - so thank you!
Cheers, and we'll be in touch soon,
Bobby, Marine & Sarah
