Project 2019-05-27 16:06:17 +1200
Update: We're so happy that we've reached our goal. Now we aim to push past it to $30,000, which will hopefully allow us to take on a new member of staff.
Â
We are Nisa, an ethical underwear label employing former refugees in Wellington. We want to add men's briefs to our range, but we need your help to make it happen 😮
Â
To make the comfiest briefs you’ve ever experienced, we need to buy a special sewing machine that costs $10,000.  This sewing machine makes a stitch that is flat and soft on the skin - perfect for men's underwear.
Â
We need a further $10,000 to cover cover our production costs, including a special order of our super soft organic cotton fabric and labour costs for our awesome team of former refugee sewers to whip up the briefs. The final $5,000 is to cover the finishing touches on our product development.
Â
If we reach our goal of $25,000, the briefs should be ready by FATHER'S DAY on September 1.  So don’t forget to stock up for your dad too! Christmas is also just around the corner...
Â
Â
What Nisa is about
Â
Nisa is an ethical underwear label founded by Elisha Watson in mid 2017. Â Elisha quit her job as a lawyer to set up the social enterprise, with the goal of providing meaningful paid employment to people from refugee backgrounds.
Â
For our former refugee sewers, working at Nisa is about a lot more than just receiving a pay cheque - it’s about finding a community and friends at work, practicing English and being proud of the products they make for our customers in NZ and around the world.
Â
Nisa currently has 5 staff on its production team, and another 2-3 people on the marketing/business/dispatch side of things. Â All of our underwear is made in our Wellington workshop at 99 Willis St. This space also doubles as a retail store, so if you ever want to see us in action, feel free to swing by.
Â
To date we've made tens of thousands of pairs of underwear and bras for women, and now we want to show some love to our male supporters.

Â
What happens next
Â
If we reach our goal of raising $25,000, we will organise for final tweaks to be made on the design, and then get started with production. Â We'll be making size S - XL in our first production run.
Â
In late August (before Father’s Day) we’ll send out an email to everyone who pledged for our men’s briefs with a special code inside. This code will let you select a pair in your favourite size/colour from our online store, which we will dispatch the next day following your order. If you’re wanting to give the briefs to your dad for Father’s Day, you can also just give your dad the code so that he can choose his own.
Â
These codes will be valid for one year, so no rush if you want to hang on to it for a while, or use it at Christmastime instead. Â There will be some final tweaks to the design, so it might look slightly different to the picture above. We will dispatch our socks immediately at the completion of the crowdfunding campaign.
Â
Thanks so much for your support! If you have any questions, don't hesistate to get in touch by emailing [email protected]. Please feel free to share this campaign with friends, family and colleagues - it helps us out so much 😀
