The Traffic Congestion Challenge

Kia Ora Kiwis, my name is Toa Greening I am the founder of microCAR NZ Ltd, New Zealand’s very first Electric Vehicle Technology company. We are the super ambitious hi-tech Kiwi Company with the big plan to get our emissions choked, gridlocked cities moving again by manufacturing and operating a "World First" microCAR EV lease business in New Zealand.

...Starting with Auckland...

All good things take time....

This has been a six-year journey which has taken us to the US (Commuter Cars, Google, Microsoft, Silicon Valley), India (Mahindra Electric, TechCity Bangalore), discussions with local manufacturers, international automotive suppliers, Mobility as a Service Tech companies and Blockchain Technology entrepreneurs. All this so we could complete "The Plan" to test and manufacture these fantastic vehicles in New Zealand as detailed in the below section.

microCAR NZ Ltd has assembled a highly experienced team of experts and finished our BIG plans to get Auckland moving. But we cannot do this alone, we need support from you, your family, friends and work colleagues to create the movement.

Now it’s your turn to join our movement to get Auckland moving!!!

The Plan - What $500K will be used for?

Summary

We will be developing/testing the new model New Zealand made microCAR. Establishing supply lines, manufacturing partners, operating partners, local/international investors and investigating/trialing new advances in Hi-Tech mobility applications. As a supporter you will be kept up to date as we progress.

1. Build 2-3 new model New Zealand made LVVTA compliant Electric microCARs

  • This will prove the capability of the high performance Electric microCARs for NZ roads and the capacity to manufacture in New Zealand.
  • The development, design, manufacture, testing and final launch will be documented via a world first social media campaign. The reason for this is to raise the international profile of microCAR NZ Ltd plans to address traffic congestion.

2. Evaluate and source components, suppliers and manufacturing partners

  • Many base parts can be built/sourced in NZ, EV drive trains, automotive components, batteries, controllers will be sourced internationally.

3. Evaluate local manufacturing partners to build up to 250 microCARs/annum

  • We have already investigated local manufacturing partners and will be following through on those discussions.

4. Evaluate local operators to manage up to 500 microCARs

  • We have already investigated local operating partners and will be following through on those discussions.

5. Initiate local and international investor discussions to raise capital to build  50-500 microCARs

  • We are confident of raising capital to build another 50-500 microCARs to start the first phase of operations.
  • The high profile of this campaign and 2000 pledges of a six months lease validates the business models we present to institutional and non-institutional investors.

6. Evaluate local and international suppliers of Mobility as a Service applications

  • The microCAR operating business will work on a MaaS platform as we believe that ride sharing, car pooling and alternate forms of transportation will all together get traffic moving and we will incrementally roll out the technology to do just that.

7. Evaluate local and international suppliers of Blockchain Mobility applications

  • The world of Blockchain Tokenomics and Ecosystems are turning many markets on its head, bringing value to personal data and disrupting the way in which business is done.
  • We will be completing a thorough investigation of various blockchain decentralised applications and innovative ways to get traffic moving including how to fill (Rideshare) all those empty seats in your 5 seater car!!!!

The Offer

1. 50% off the first month lease once the microCAR operations are fully established

2. A further 25% off a six-month lease once the microCAR operations are fully established

3. A Test drive of the new model microCAR

4. Invitation to the microCAR launch event

5. Be included in the microCAR Wall of Fame

Tango T600 Quick Specs:

  • Aceleration: 0-100km in 3.5 Seconds
  • Top speed: 240km/hr
  • Width: 99cm
  • Length: 259cm
  • Weight: 1500kg
  • EV Range: 200km
  • NHTSA 5-Star rollover threshold of 56°
  • FIA-certified chrome-moly steel DOM tubing frame

Q&A

Q: How will 50-500 microCARs make a difference to Aucklands traffic congestion?

A: The plan is for the microCAR operation to be located in the CBD with dedicated parking and charging. The reduction to traffic congestion will be localised to the CBD. The research says a net 5% shift to microcars/motorcycles increases the speed of the motorway by 15-20% due to the fact that motorcycle sized vehicles require less road space and can occupy unused road space. As more motorway capable microCARs from different manufacturers become common place there will be a net improvement in the motorway speed. microCAR NZ Ltd will be the leader in this area and through our higly visible social media campaign we expect other manufacturers to respond to the opportunity.

Q: Why do you want to fill the empty seats in our cars?

A: Ridesharing has the potential to have as much impact on reducing traffic congestion as microCARs. There are existing operators that we will work with and exciting blockchain/cryptocurrency models we are investigating to turn the industry of moving people around our cities upside down. One of the greatest challenges that Rideshare operators face are the very high costs of advertising to grow a mobile app based business. microCAR will be a high visibility business both physically on the roads and virtually on social media. We will leverage our high customer visibility to grow an innovative (existing operators, bockchain and cryptocurrency) Rideshare operation.  microCAR will be at the forefront of challenging every dollar that is spent moving people around our cities and providing innovative and cost-effective alternatives to do it better and with less time/cost/resources and energy.

Q: What causes traffic congestion?

A: The accepted causes of traffic congestion are not enough roads and public transport to move vehicles and people at peak time. microCAR NZ Ltd determined that traffic congestion is caused by vehicles that are too large for transporting single commuters and that 5-seater vehicles had too many empty seats during peak time commute. From our six years of research we know that the benefits of removing seats (microCAR) and filling seats (Rideshare) will be:

  • more cost effective
  • take less time
  • create fewer disruptions
  • require less resources/materials
  • require less land/road space/parking space
  • and requires less energy than building more roads or public transport infrastructure.

Q: Can a microCAR pass within a lane like a motorcycle?

A: Yes, as long as you follow the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004 section 2.6 General requirements about passing other vehicles (click on the below section for full details).

Q: Will microCARs be available for sale?

A: You will only be able to lease them as part of a vehicle management program. The lease will include insurance, CBD parking and CBD charging and based upon your average weekly commuting requirements. Private customers will be able to take the vehicles home each day and business customers will be able to use the vehicles in place of existing company carpool vehicles. There are other opportunities with developers of apartments and high-density housing to provide microCAR lease operations for their residents.

Q: Will there be opportunities to become a financial investor?

A: Yes, there are ongoing discussions and you are welcome to contact us anytime to be part of these.

Q: How safe will the microCAR be?

A: The microCAR will be manufactured to the LVVTA (Low Volume Vehicle Technical Association) specifications. It will be safer than other single commuter vehicles like motorcycles and bicycles but will not have all the safety technology required for full sized passenger vehicles (at this stage). The internal frame will be strengthened to withstand impact from other vehicles and it will weigh the same as a medium sized passenger vehicle (due to the batteries and CoG ballast).  The very low centre of gravity (CoG) means the microCAR can make emergency manoeuvres that other vehicles cannot make.

Q: Does the microCAR really need to accelerate so quickly 0-100km <3.5 seconds?

A: No it does not, but the acceleration can helpful in certain situations such as overtaking slower vehicles. The Tango T600 was developed as a supercar class Electric Vehicle to demonstrate that small and narrow did not mean slow and unstable. The high acceleration and low centre of gravity puts the Tango T600 in the top performers of all supercars.

Q: If I make 2 or more Pledgeme contributions does that mean I can claim 2 months 50% off lease and 12 months 25% off lease?

A: Sorry you cannot accumulate the lease offers, however those who make multiple pledges will be prioritised for the first operational leases. Also, the planned Cryptocurrency bonuses will be accumulated, but those details will be released in 2019.
