Make Burgers Not War!

We started with a dream and a whole lot of gumption. An idea that fast food doesn’t have to mean bad food. That you could go out, grab a lovingly-made feast that's good for you and good for the earth.

So we created New Zealand's first completely plant-based fast food joint. And you came and you enjoyed the delicious offerings.

Now we're asking you to join us again in transforming our humble handmade trailer into the best burger-shack-on-wheels you've ever seen.

We're bringing Wise Boys to the masses.

No animal products, just goodness and love.

Let's Make Burgers Not War.

It all began about 9 months ago when we built our Wise Boys trailer with our meagre savings in the Summer of ’15-16, because we had a dream. We dreamed of a world where fast food wasn't at the expense of the environment or any of the creatures that live in it. A world where we could eat delicious burgers without compromising our values. A world where eating plant-based food was the norm.

It was a labour of love. We sweated and bled and cried and didn't sleep very much over this thing. We didn’t know where we were going but we were doing it anyway. We had no idea if you could make a living selling meatless burgers but we had to try it out. We created NZ’s first plant-based burger shack.

And you guys showed up! You've stood in the rain, waited in the cold, delighted and exclaimed over these tasty lil' burgz, and humbled us time and time again with your undying love and support. We've realised that we're onto a good thing here, and it's time to take it to the next level. We want more people to enjoy our burgers, and we want to do a better job of bringing them to you. We want to cook faster, better, and more efficiently. The kitchen we built ourselves was great to start off with but as we've grown, we can’t keep up. For us it’s super stressful and we don't wait to keep you guys waiting.

Another exciting development very early on in our journey was that we got selected to be a part of the Good Food Boost mentoring program. This was an amazing opportunity for us to have industry leaders help shape the direction and encourage us to pursue the dream. One of our mentors (Mike from Kokako) came and audited our trailer and reviewed our systems and from that we have come to the conclusion that the only way to do this thing properly is to completely refit the inside of our trailer. A damn big job, but a damn worthwhile one. We’ll be able to reach more people and make it more enjoyable for our current fans to eat even more burgers!

Join the food revolution! Help make Wise Boys great again! We're doing this for you, we're doing this for all of us. Fund a project that you canbe proud to be part of.

We’ve got a whole bunch of awesome rewards for you guys to say thanks for being involved.

 #makeburgersnotwar

What will the money go towards?

$8,000 new gas cooker, deep fryers and and almighty bun toaster: double the size, double the burgers, half the time. 100% delicious. 200% love.

$10,000 extractor and rangehood installation: as soon as you go to gas you need an extractor to keep things clean and good inside the shack.

$12,000 New stainless steel benches and storage systems. Upgrade our sinks. Upgrade our hot water. Get gas installed. Electrical install.

Total is looking to be around $30,000! Holy moly. We’ve got half of this covered ourselves but we need you guys to take us over line to make the dream a reality.

Any extra money we raise will go to sign writing our trailer. Currently it’s a blank canvas awaiting some rad logos.

3 days to goooooo!!! Let's smash it

24/08/2016 at 1:00 PM

We've got 3 days to go on our campaign and we're so close to reaching our goal. Help us smash through the $15k mark so we can get some signwriting done on our trailer. We've got a new hamper reward coming in shortly to get you even more hyped up. Also don't forget that it's faher day next weekend so snap up some goodies for your old man while you're here!

Here's an update about what's going to happen to our trailer. We've taken it in to Bruce from Custom Coachbuilding and he has done a mock up layout for us before starting building the real thing. Once we've got the money through we'll start frantically building in preparation for our first event on 24th September in Tauranga. I actually cannot express how excited we were to see it and to know that this summer we were gonna be hitting the road with a proper food truck. It is gonna make our lives so much easier and more enjoyable so that we'll have more energy and enthusiasm to get out there and make more burgers for you all!

Thanks so much for the support so far. It is totally mind blowing and exciting.

The Wise Boys crew. xoxo

Me and Bruce stoked on the new trailer

Our little trailer going into a cocoon before emerging back into the world

Thanks everyone so much for being a part of our campaign so far! 114 of you beautiful souls.

On Tuesday I will be taking the trailer into our friend Bruce at CCB who will be completing the work for us. We'll do the intial mock up and layout of the kitchen to make sure it's exactly right for what we need. We've purchased our new cooker and it is truly a thing of beauty. After struggling away all last summer I can't express how amazing it will be to have a proper proffesionally made kitchen.

I gotta say my favourite thing is reading all of your encouraging comments! It's getting me fired up for the future. We are all really feeling the love.

We got 2 weeks and another $8,000 to go!!!! I'm stressing a bit but totally optimistic we're gonna hit our target. Unfortunately if we don't hit the target we won't get any of the money so please encourage all your friends and family to get amongst!!
