FLOATING IN THE DARKNESS
For the past 2 years, I have been working steadily on an album which is to be my first solo album as a singer-songwriter. 'Floating in the Darkness' is a self-produced, full-production album which brings together all of my musical avenues to date, for the first time.
I'm excited by the musical direction of this album; sometimes it's raw and acoustic, sometimes it's heavily electronic influenced, sometimes it's fragile and sometimes it's fat and deep. It really feels to me like the first time I have broken down the walls that divide my various musical facets, and brought all of my influences together. I can't wait to share it with you.
I released “If I Move To Mars”, the first single from this album, back in October and was stoked to see it gain some great traction, with airplay on ZM, The Hits and The Edge, and a place in the Official NZ Music charts for 5 weeks.
Up until this point, I have funded everything myself, and I am stoked to say that 8 out of 10 tracks are finished (recorded, mixed, waiting on a hard drive). The final stages present massive chunks of expense, and my request for your help is specifically to cover remaining expenses so that I can get this album to you and anyone else who wants to have it. Your help would see this album completed and released.
As I said above, 8 of 10 tracks are finished and mixed (half of which I mixed myself). The remaining two tracks have to be recorded and then mixed by a professional mix engineer. I work with a Grammy Award-winning mix engineer in the States, and she kindly gives me a friendly rate because I am an independent artist.
Once those two songs are mixed, the final stage in the musical process is mastering, which is a fairly considerable expense! The remaining costs would be the manufacture/design and the release costs associated with getting the album to you, the listener.
Here is a breakdown of the remaining expenses:

I have devoted everything I can to this album in the past year, both financially and emotionally. It is the exposition of who I am as a musician right now, and I hope to do you, my fans and my family proud by releasing it.
We've tried to think of something for everyone here! Whether you're simply a fan of my music who wants to pre-order an album, a slide player who wants some new music to play, a skater who needs a new deck, or a host who wants to throw a concert at your house, we surely hope there's something here for you.
We have 35 days to reach the goal. If the goal isn't reached then we won't recieve the money and you won't be charged.

Tour dates will be announced in February, and I’ll be touring with a brand new band in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and touring solo for other regions and international dates.

I'm stoked to let you know that the album is completely finished! I've made a start on the other rewards as well, and some people have received theirs. For everyone else, the album won't be released until early 2017, so your rewards will be sent out with the album when it is released. My apologies that it's such a long wait! I wish it could be sooner, but it's just the nature of the game - there's a lot for us to do before release!
