The New Zealand Home-Brewers' Conference
Project 2015-10-08 15:02:50 +1300
March 18th, 19th and 20th will see #nzhc2016 come to life in Nelson, New Zealand.
The goal for this event is to help passionate New Zealand home-brewers #makebetterbeer by letting them learn from the best. This will be achieved by having a range of presenters, workshops, and panels discussing important brewing topics. As well as this the Conference will be a fantastic way to meet and interact with other keen home-brewers in a relaxed and fun environment.
We have some amazing VIP speakers who have agreed to come and speak at the Conference. Chris White, the world-famous expert on brewing yeast and owner of White Labs, will have his first ever NZ speaking engagement at #nzhc2016. We have also secured Tasty McDole, award-winning home-brew expert and part of The Brewing Network team. We also have the support of a number of commercial craft brewers from New Zealand who have committed to presenting at this event.
We are a small team of passionate home-brewers based in Nelson, and between us we have experience in running events, craft beer festivals, websites and supporting home-brewers. We are investing all of our time into this project for free, and will use all of the money raised to cover the costs of running the Conference and any travel costs associated with international speakers.
We have engaged with volunteers around New Zealand to help realise this vision. All we need now is to get 100 attendees to buy tickets to this event and #nzhc2016 will become a reality.
The schedule for the event is as follows:
- 18th March - 11am to 6pm. Friday Tour! We will visit hop farms, craft breweries and other sites of interest
- 18th March - 7pm to 10pm. BrewMania! An evening of organised chaos, allowing YOU to pick the champion home-brewer for #nzhc2016. A home-brew competition like no other where you can be the judge and the best brewer will walk away with the top prize. BrewMania entry allows you to enter beer as a competing brewer, enter as a spectator and judge - or both!
- 19th March - 12pm to 10pm. Marchfest! Please note Marchfest tickets are sold separately at marchfest.com, with earlybird pricing from $28 per ticket.
- 20th March - 10am to 11am. Sunday brunch! A chance to ease into the day and chat with fellow home-brewers.
- 20th March - 11am to 6pm. #nzhc2016 Conference. Keynote speakers, presentations, workshops, expert panels, and a suppliers Expo.
Please note that each reward provides access to specific parts of this schedule.
You can find out more about the event at our website www.nzhc.nz.

Many thanks to everyone for the fantastic support of the New Zealand Home-brewers' Conference. The level of interest in the event has been brilliant and we could not have asked for more.
Please make sure you are signed up for news at www.nzhc.nz as we will be doing regular email newsletters to keep you informed as planning continues.
If you are one of those who have missed out buying tickets through PledgeMe, please don't worry - we are working on a ticketing system and hope to make it possible for people to buy tickets direct from www.nzhc.nz in the next week or so.
We are greatly looking forward to March, and meeting everyone, whilst we all learn how to #makebetterbeer.
All the best
Mike, Karl and Ed
Wowser. So you DO want a New Zealand Home-brewers' Conference.

So the past week has been pretty amazing. After the months of preparation and planning, we finally opened the gate to ticket sales and the response has been fantastic.
We are now on the verge of confirming that NZHC2016 is going ahead. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience getting all of the positive feedback from home-brewers nationwide who are as excited as we are about this event.
We have also had a lot of requests from people who missed out on the Early-bird specials and Combo deals. It looks like a lot of people want to take part in as many activities as possible, which is really great news and something we are working hard to accommodate.
As a result we have now opened up a range of new rewards that let you pick-and-mix the parts of the weekend that you want to take part in, and even some rewards that let people who can't make it down to Nelson for the weekend show their support.
The two activities on Friday are both still being reviewed for maximum capacity.
The Friday tour has been designed to give access to some exclusive locations so that the people taking part get the best possible experience from their trip. However, this includes some locations which would not be able to handle more than the volume of tickets we have already sold. We will continue to review this and there remains a chance more tickets will become available for this or a parallel activity.
The BrewMania event was always intended to be a raucous and fun evening with a large crowd of people involved in judging. At this stage, we have already committed to allowing 80 ticket-holders to take part in the judging. We are holding off selling any more tickets for this until we have confirmation that we have a venue that can handle people. Again, we are working hard to allow as many people as possible to take part in this evening but we need to be confident we are not over-committed or risking that the quality of this event becomes compromised.
We really appreciate all of your support and your patience whilst we work through these availability questions and we will try to answer all feedback as quickly as we can.
We are looking forward to seeing you in March!
Many thanks
Mike, Karl and Ed.
