About

WIFT Young Woman Film-Maker Award

Project 2012-08-09 21:22:58 +1200

Now in its 6th year, The Outlook for Someday challenge is to make a short sustainability-related film. Anyone up to age 24 can enter, either individually or in a team.

20 Winning Films are chosen each year and are celebrated at The Someday Awards red-carpet ceremony in Auckland, where Special Awards are announced.

This year there has also been a nationwide series of 21 free sustainability film-making workshops for young people, teachers and youth workers.

The Outlook for Someday is run by Connected Media Charitable Trust with an objective of helping to grow a generation of sustainability storytellers.

One of the main ways the Trust gets funding to run the project is sponsorship of Special Awards.

In 2012 Connected Media and WIFT (Women in Film and Television) have decided together that one of the Special Awards should be the WIFT YOUNG WOMAN FILM-MAKER AWARD for a film made by a young woman film-maker or team.

WIFT is not in a position to provide financial sponsorship so that’s why we’re making the call here for you to support The Outlook for Someday’s first crowd-funded special award.

The entry deadline for the film challenge in 2012 is 21 September. Full details are at www.theoutlookforsomeday.net

You can watch the Winning Films from all previous years at www.theoutlookforsomeday.net/winning-films

Counting down to midnight...

Hi everyone. This is our last ditch appeal. The clock is ticking down to our deadline at midnight tonight. We need your support to reach our target. Every little bit helps us to get there. Please spread the word among your friends and networks. There has been a late surge of pledges today…. Please help us to get over the line…

A message from David...

Kia ora folks, David Jacobs here, Director of The Outlook for Someday.

We’ve got only one week to go for this PledgeMe crowdfunding appeal.

At the moment we are only a sixth of the way to our target. And if we don’t reach the target then we don’t receive any of the support which 27 people have so far pledged…

Please can you help. I know that some of you will only be able to afford a small pledge but others will be able to dig a bit deeper. And for anyone who can dig really deep we have just created a new reward by which you get to go onstage and join WIFT in presenting the Young Woman Film-maker Award at The Someday Awards red-carpet ceremony in Auckland.

The deadline for pledges is one minute to midnight next Monday 17th. For anyone overseas please note that’s NZ time.
