About

Urban Living Wall Christchurch

Project 2015-05-06 18:04:17 +1200

The Urban Living Wall is innovative, bringing together native rocky outcrop plants, 3D printing and CNC cutting, felt, and more to create an artistic, refreshing environment in Christchurch City. This project has been started by a number of collaborators: the Fab Lab Chch, the Department of Conservation, the Christchurch City Council, AUT, and schools. This includes the public in the development of the project and gives it educational value. The wall is located on the corner of Cashel street and High Street.

The Urban Living Wall has been established by the collaborators, and in order to make the urban living wall superb, we need crowd funding.

Already more than $24,000 has gone into materials and labor for the urban living wall, and the first 6 meters of 20 are launched on the 8th of May. We are pledging for $2,000 from the crowd to help pay for more materials to cover another portion of the structure.

Already schools around Christchurch have donated printing time; their 3D printed planter panels are on the wall alongside many printed at the fab lab. By pledging, we can continue the printing, wood carving and more. Watch this urban living wall evolve and get involved !
