WHAT IS A SHAMANIC NZ NATIVE TREE & PLANT APPRENTICESHIP?
A 6 month course facilitated by Amy McComb, director of Plant Rhythms, NZ Native tree & Wild plant medicine company. The course empowers people to work with their own intuition and enables them to easily determine plant properties. It covers Wild plant and NZ Native tree spiritual & material pharmacology, medicine making, herbal nutrition & cooking, plant essences, nature awareness & Earth connection.
WHY DO I WANT TO DO THE COURSE?
I am gathering tools in life which I believe will enable me to support both the Earth & it's inhabitants. This course will equip me with valuable knowledge and experience to help me understand how I can best give that support. I believe connection to & relationship with Nature will be increasingly needed in this world we live in.
+ I LOVE HANGING OUT WITH PLANTS!
WHY I'M ASKING YOU FOR SUPPORT
Although I will be the one participating in this course, I deeply intend the benefits of my experience to branch out to many others; people, planet, animals and plants. I can not afford the costs of the course & travel involved alone, I would be honoured to receive your help.

Hello kind people who helped me towards my dream of participaing in the plant apprenticeship course in Piha. Last Sunday we completed the course. It's been a really influencial and actually quite life changing experience. I've connected with some amazing people who feel like a kind of family. We will continue to meet to practice plant medicine and hang out. My awareness of native and introduced plants has increased and continues to. Even the plants that grow through the cracks in the concrete are catching my eye and making me wonder what their properties are. We've made a range of skin care products like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, balms and creams and medicines like tinctures, eye drops and essences. I'm so grateful for your support in getting me to that course because it was it felt so good to be there. I think about your rewards every day and have every intention of getting them all to you. I've been adding to the edible and medicinal weed booklet with the knowledge I've learnt on course. I'm sorry the gifts are taking such a long time. They'll be beautiful and will make it your way soon. Thank you for your kindness and patience. HUGS
Grateful & excited on my path

After the first 2 weekends of the apprenticeship course with Amy McComb I know I'm in the right place. We're being called to connect with ourselves in order to recognise our intuitive feelings, thoughts and responses to different plants. We're making beautiful infused oils and balms, delicious and nutritious wild "weed" salads, harvesting seagrasses to eat amoung other fun, challenging and educational expericences. Here are some photos:
Wahoo it's time!

Tomorrow at 10am I'll start my Herbal apprenticeship with Amy McComb in Piha.
Advice from Amy:
'If you can come relaxed is fantastic, that is really a good priority over any particular exercises.'
Thank you to you all for getting me to this point!

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that Amy didn't get enough people to go ahead with the apprenticship course starting in October, instead her next one is in February. Just as life would have it, another complimentary course run by 'Transformation in Natura' has popped up from the 5-19th October. They're all tools that belong in the same box and are develping different aspects of the same thing.. don't ask me exactly what the thing is, I don't know the 'job title' it has but it's leading somewhere that feels good for me =)
Sor far I am partly through the design of the 'No Such Things as Weeds' booklet and have a selection of 4 gift cards created. When I get back from this course I will continue creating and be in touch along the way.
Enjoy the incresing day light and warmth
Kind thoughts to you all

Hello everyone,
I hope you NZers are enjoying the signs of Spring. We've got little lambs in the paddock next door and beautiful flowers colouring the garden. My family and I are packing up our life from the farm where we've lived for 24yrs and in 6days the new owners will move in... Hmm I'm experiencing a range of emotions in relation to saying goodbye but I'm excited about change too.
Once I've moved I will become a full time gift maker! I haven't forgotten your generosity and I look fwd to making your thankyous!
The pledgeme team will complete the transactions of raised funds soon so please make sure you have remembered to have funds available to be collected. Thank you =)
With gratitude,
Zara

All of you have contributed in getting me to this magical course that I'm getting increasingly excited about, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Life's changing in my world. Oak Tree Farm where I grew up and have spent the majority of my life has sold, the new owners take possession on the 13th September. I will move to town with my parents and launch into full time gift making. I'm really looking fwd to putting my creativty and care towards rewards for your kindness.
The pledgeme crew has given me the first chunk of funds raised. They'll do a 2nd check in the next couple of days for the 5 cards which declined so please transfer some funds if necessary.
I hope you're enjoying yourselves
Very kind regards and hugs

Hello beautiful supporters =)
I've spent that last 2 days at markets in the Nelson region selling hand dried hebal teas, gift cards and good for the body and soul nut slice, all funds going towards this campaign. I found it very heart warming to see people getting joy out of my artworks. Having a stall with a tie dye tablecloth and nature inspired contents attracted some lovely, interesting people. I'll have more herbs, cards and goodies at the Nelson Saturday Market in a fortnight (23rdAug), maybe see you there.
Thank you again for pledging your support towards my journey!
Hugs and smiles

On some level I knew from the moment I heard about the Plant Rhythms apprenticeship course that I would participate in it, or something similar, at some stage in my life. The kindness and generosity of you lovely people makes me feel appreciative and strong. Your support makes me feel like you believe in me, which strengthens my belief in myself. Reading and genuinely accepting the words you choose to describe me to your friends or seeing your pledges of support positively challenges an underlying feeling I hold that I'm not good enough. I am working twds replacing that destructive feeling with self acceptance. So I want to tell you thank you, you are playing a valuable part in my journey to being my unique self.
