Thanks for checking out my Pledge Me page!!!
The video above is me competing last year in the Lightweight Double with Sophie Mackenzie at the 2013 U23 World Rowing Championships where we finished a close third behind Great Britain and Germany.
This September I will be racing the Lightweight Single at the World University Rowing Championships. This regatta will be held in Gravelines, France.
To be eligible for this event you have to be a full time university student; I study Physical Education majoring in Sport Science and Exercise Presciption with an interest in sports coaching at the University of Otago.
I am in my final year of study after taking last year off to commit to training full time. Being a student athlete is extremely demanding and very costly, in addition to studying, coaching school hockey and training twice a day I have limited oppurtunity to work, but I currently have a kitchenhand job working 10 hours a week to help cover living expenses.
The total cost of the tour which athletes have to pay is $7500, this doesn't include other training costs leading up till September. Along with other fundraising efforts, such as club movie nights and raffles, I am applying for sports grants from regional trusts and buisness donations to reach the goal. I am hoping that through this Pledge Me will be able to raise a portion of the total costs.
NZ University Rowing Team Facebook Page - Also going to WURC is a Men's Lightweight Double. We have a team Facebook Page that has freqent updates and I also run Monthly Newsletters. You can read the latest and subcribe through the provided link.
I would like to say a big Thank You to James from Salt and Batter for donating meal vouchers for rewards. If you haven't had them before and you're in Invercargill definately go and check them out!!
Below is a selection of photos of me at competions over the past year.

10 days to go!!! Into single figures tomorrow and its looking very promising withonly $270 needed to reach my target. All I would like to say is Thank You Thank You Thank You to everyone who has pledged and is sharing this around their workplaces or with friends!
Training has been going well, and I am now in Invercargill on University semester break for a 2 week training block, hopefully the weather improves from the wind gusts and rain but overall morale is high!
Cheers and many thanks,
Lisa
Update #1

Almost a week in and today we passed the $500 mark!!! This means we are are third of the way to my target. I have been really overwhelmed by the donations so far, I suppose was expecting the majority to be $5 pledges but everyone has been so generous with the average pledge being around $30 (absolutely no pressure to future pledges). I would like to thank everybody who has pledged so far, I am so grateful and I will continue training super hard so that I don't let you down.
Better get back to study now, Lisa :)
