About

A Leopard Lives In My Village

So, What's Our Project?

'A Leopard Lives in my Village' is a children's picture book. It tells the tale of a small boy living in Kenya, whose grandmother tells him tales of children who live in cities far away. It all sounds pretty neat to him, until he remembers, he has something they don't...A Leopard Lives in his Village... !

And Who Are We?

We are:
- Sarah Knipping (myself, the writer). I am an early childhood teacher from Wellington and have spent the past 18 months here in Kenya working as a volunteer teacher at an orphanage. I love kids, teaching, writing, and traveling and have had the most amazing time pulling all these things together!!!

- Dickson Inyanje Sore (illustrator) local artist and a good friend of mine, here in Nakuru. Dickson is an amazing artist from right here in Kenya, wanna see more of his amazing work? Check out his Facebook page:

We've come together to write and illustrate a children's story inspired by the gorgeous
little ones I work with here in Kenya.

Ok, So Why Do We Need Your Help?

We want to publish our children's book as a fundraiser for a great NGO (NHWC) based right here in Nakuru. We're looking for funds to help us with the cost of printing a first run of the book.
The book will be sold both locally and internationally. It will be an amazing opportunity to spread the word of NHWC, share Dickson's stunning artwork with the world and share a beautiful little tale of a little one living here in Kenya with our little ones at home.

Who Are We Fundraising For?

NHWC: The Nathan Hall Williams Center was created to emphasize the need for preventative and rehabilitative care for people with disabilities in developing countries.  Based in Nakuru, Kenya, the Center caters to those with disabilities through community outreach projects, educational services, and health care clinics.

NHWC is working on building a fantastic community center in Nakuru and our funds, raised from sales of the book, will help go towards that.
