Black River Drive Album 2

Toby Wright (Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Stone Sour) has invited Black River Drive to work with him at The Sound Emporium in Nashville, TN, in September/October 2013.
Black River Drive (Sam Browne, Mike Tan, Matt Stone and Russell
McNaughton) have been performing together since 2009, releasing their
debut album PERFECT FLAWS in 2010. This album included the radio hits
"Bullet For Your Gun" and "Call The Doctor" and saw the
band tour New Zealand three times alongside some of the biggest names in
NZ rock.

Earlier this year a chance meeting between BRD vocalist, Sam Browne, and internationally acclaimed producer Toby Wright (Metallica, Alice in Chains, Slayer, Korn) resulted in the band being invited to come to Nashville, TN, to record their second album. With the opportunity of working with a producer of this caliber being simply too good to pass up, the band eagerly accepted.
Recording a rock album is incredibly expensive - the cost of a top international producer, a suitable recording studio for tracking and mixing, and a professional mastering engineer alone comes in at more than $70,000, and then there are flights, accommodation, equipment hire, car hire, insurance, album artwork design, promo photography and the promotion of the album. The band have kept the project as lean as possible to stretch every dollar as far as possible, and as an independent band with no record label to cover costs, the band themselves are contributing $20,000 to the album's creation. NZOA have generously contributed another $50,000. Even with this money factored in, there is still a large shortfall in funding the project, and this is why the band are asking for their fans' help.
As well as CDs and album downloads, the band have put together a huge list of unique rewards that offer something for everyone. Strictly limited to the pledgeme campaign, the rewards on offer include :
- Limited edition t-shirts
- handwritten postcards from Nashville
- tickets to the album launch party
- Listing in the album credits
- Special thanks album credit
- Skype session with the band while they're in the studio
- Music lessons with the band member of your choice
- Fishing charter with drummer/keen outdoorsman Mike Tan (drums)
- Handwritten album lyrics
- Gibson Explorer electric guitar (as used in the Call The Doctor video).
- "Unplugged" acoustic concert by the band.
- Live concert performance by the band.
BRD's Sam Browne says "Our fans have been the cornerstone of our success to date, and we hope they will get on board to help make this dream project a reality. We are putting everything we've got into this as we see this album as the turning point for Black River Drive, the album that will allow us to take on the world. Many of the rewards we're offering are unique items and experiences that will never be repeated."
With no record label costs to cover and no manager to pay, every single dollar invested goes to assisting the band in bringing this dream to fruition. This project is the band and their fans and no one else. Additionally, the band are not taking a single dollar as payment - every dollar invested will go into the album's creation, pressing and promotion.
"We can't wait to hit the studio and make an album our fans are going to love, as well as doing all the fun stuff we've got planned for our fans through our pledgeme campaign. The next few months are going to be incredibly exciting and we're stoked to share the experience with our fans."
