Our Project
If you've made it this far, you've already seen our project video. Impressive huh? Well, we can assure you - they are even better up close!
We are a primary school aged photography club. We are aged between 7 and 11 years old and have been working hard for the last nine months. Last term we held our very first exhibition at our school. Everybody LOVED it! In fact, it's fair to say - they were BLOWN AWAY by it, and even that's an understatement!
Somebody loved it so much, that, only one day after our exhibition finished, they invited us to exhibit during the Auckland Festival of Photography in June 2013. That's only one month away!!
The Estuary Arts Gallery in Orewa has offered us the top floor for one whole month! Woohoo!!
We are really excited, but also a bit apprehensive!
The gallery has offered us the space for half price, but we still need to pay for printing and exhibiting our photos - and we want it to look really cool. We might not be professionals, but we are starting to understand about taking pride in our work!
You can view all our photos from our 'Look Through Our Eyes' first exhibition at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ahuroaphotographyclub/ or, if you're on Facebook, at http://www.facebook.com/ahuroa.schl under our photo albums.
Our digital learning journal (our blog) has had nearly 3000 hits and is well worth a look! http://www.ahuroaphotography.blogspot.co.nz
Thank you all - you seriously rock just for thinking about helping us!!

Now for some emotive mushy stuff from our club leader...

I have been very privileged to witness these kids dedication, commitment, enthusiasm, willingness to learn and take 'creative advice.' As their first exhibition approached I experienced their excitement, nervousness, more excitement, more nervousness alongside with them. To see their absolute joy and pride when they saw how much everyone obviously loved what they had produced was priceless. Any opportunity that is going to further nurture and develop their talent, passion, enthusiasm and self esteem, is going to be grabbed, and we will do our very best to make sure we can make that opportunity possible for them!
Lets hope the rest of NZ feels the same way!!
