20% of every donation goes towards a freshwater charity in New Zealand, keep up to date with our Facebook page for an upcoming announcement on which one we have chosen!
New Zealand’s deadline of making 90% of freshwater rivers and lakes swimmable by 2040 edges closer, Shaun Forgie believes he has the solution. He wants a widespread introduction of dung beetles to clean up our farmlands of faeces. His large operation in Whenuapai shows the magnitude of this movement. Does his passion match up with science?
This short documentary discusses livestock’s impact on waterways, the precious ecosystems that need to be protected there, and whether dung beetles may or may not be the solution to our freshwater woes. We aim to shine a light on these little critters and consider them as a solution to clean up our waterways.
We will look at the impact livestock has on the ecosystems that reside in nearby streams, and how quickly we need a solution. Will dung beetles save us all? The answer could be within this 8-minute documentary.
The director of this project is Felix Zhang, and the producer is Emelie Fitness. This will be the final project of our Television and Screen Production degree at AUT, and we want this to be the start of a career where we can share stories to the world through the screen. We are super passionate about this project and really appreciate any support given.
