EP PRINT - THE BATHTUB SOPHIST
Project 2012-04-01 21:32:16 +1200
Main Crop 1: was a 2010/11 release from Hamilton musician 'the Bathtub Sophist'.
This summer-themed instrumental record has so far enjoyed positive critical reviews across the board (where it was accepted for review), however, many publications/labels have rejected my submissions outright (tossed in the bin) because they still only accept 'proper' CD's (e.g., commercially pressed and printed – or 'retail-ready' copies). My home-made or digital files, do not make the standard. Which is disappointing given the waning relevance of the hard-copy medium in this modern age, and the fact that having a nice looking CD has little correlation to the quality of the music itself.
As a struggling student teacher, and now a newlywed, I have never had the spare cash to do a small pressing of the record. The record is a quality piece of sound/art/music (you decide), that I had mastered professionally and features beautiful commissioned cover art etc.
I seek generous people to help me fund a small pressing of 100 or so copies (mostly for airplay and review submissions). These units will allow me to get into the hands of various publications and industry people who might help open up doors for this charming little kiwi record to be heard, and enjoyed, by many more ears around NZ - and hopefully the world.
