FEMALE COMPANY are back for 2013 - but need your help! After our fantastic December season of AGNES OF GOD, we are ready for 2013 with the mammoth undertaking of REVENGE OF THE AMAZONS. Set to be a huge production, with a large cast, duo directing team and a Ponsonby venue, we are appealing to lovers of theatre, women, and all things magical, to make this midsummer dream come true. The performance rights for an amatuer company are a steep $120 a performance, and with 5 shows that brings our licence to $600. This has to be paid ASAP! Add to this our venue costs, close to $1200, and this becomes almost impossible for our fledgling, not-for-profit company. We want to bring this beautiful piece of New Zealand female playwriting to life, and share it with schools and the Auckland community - we have some pretty wonderful rewards on offer too! Please help us foster some fantastic emerging talent, and spread the work of strong Kiwi women - we cannot do this without you!
Female Company
Formed in October of last year by four University of Auckland Drama students, Female Company is theatre focused on sourcing roles with substance, developing on the strengths of women in theatre. With a spotlight on showcasing the diverse female talent in our theatre industry, Female Company produces theatre that explores the stories of the quiddity of women. These stories are brought to the stage by a creative team of men and women who collaborate to bridge this gap in the world of New Zealand theatre.
