Nga Reo O Te Whenua - Voices Of The Land

"Nga Reo O Te Whenua - Voices of the Land" is a feature documentary about the world renown performer of taonga puoro, traditional Maori instruments, Richard Nunns.
The film documents Richard's journey as he reflects on his time learning, teaching and coming to understand these unique instruments. The film also explores Richard's current struggle with Parkinson's Disease which threatens his ability to continue performing. The friendship and performance relationship Richard has developed with Horomona Horo grows deeper as they explore the sounds of Aotearoa together.
Richard Nunns is a leading figure in the revival of traditional Maori instruments, his contribution has had a significant impact on the sounds of that have come to represent Aotearoa in this country and abroad. This film seeks to explore Richard's journey and his understandings of the relationship between taonga puoro and the landscape of Aotearoa.
The film is Directed and Produced by Paul Wolffram.
Featuring cinematography by Alun Bollinger and Luke Frater.
Sound recording by Bernard Blackburn and sound design by Tim Prebble.
Associate Producer Catherine Fitzgerald.
With your help we aim to raise $6,500.00 to help with a third and final production period shot in the lower part of the South Island in August 2013.
