About

- FREEDOM -

Project 2012-02-22 01:16:20 +1300

Have you heard of Jonathan Franzen? If not you should probably read his seminal 2010 novel Freedom, because it discusses all the nuances of contemporary living, to the point where he makes you want to get off your computer and go bush! Fresh air! Nature! Freedom!

Here at Always Sometimes Anytime we were so inspired by Franzen’s idea of Freedom that we decided to embark on a photographic project that explores the idea of Freedom as it relates to young people growing up in New Zealand. We took two young ladies to the Coromandel, Rotorua and Kare Kare and photographed them connecting to each other and our landscape in a way we often over look.

The ultimate plan with Freedom is to document as much of New Zealand as possible like this, to get burgeoning New Zealand fictional writers to articulate their ideas of Freedom, and to bring this all together in both an exhibition and book.

Getting a creative team to the South Island from Auckland is expensive! We are asking you for travel and transportation costs for the opportunity to document the South Island for five days. We offer treats in return!

Would you like to come to the exhibition?

Do you like limited edition prints of beautiful imagery?

Would you like one-on-one photographic studio time with professionals?

Yes, you would!

Let’s make this happen and document New Zealand in a beautiful way for a new, non cultural-cringe generation!
