I am a 17 year old HIgh School student and have made selection into the Junior NZ Waterpolo Team to compete at Junior World Champs in Greece this August 2013.
8 weeks ago I landed in hospital after training to find I had a perforated lung. At this stage I thought my World Champs were over - but I've been training super hard and in just four weeks got my fitness back up to pass the fitness.
I'm the 'TJ' - that's the team junior, which means I have to put the balls away, carry the drink crate, and get a loving ribbing from the rest of the girls.
I recently relocated to Auckland to complete my Yr13 at Rangitoto College. This meant leaving my family behind in Wellington for the year, but I get to train hard with the North Harbour Club and alongside my NZ team mates. We train six times a week as well as additional gym sessions.
With Waterpolo being a minority sport (but growing rapidly) we get very little funding. So with training camps and the need to compete Internationally, this puts huge financial pressure on my family. So that's why I'm here on PledgeMe....my trip to Greece is costing $9000 so if I could make just 20% of that amount, that would be incredible. So thanks for taking time to check me out and consider helping me with my ambition. I love this sport and it's a honour to play for New Zealand. Many Thanks, Zephyr Herriot

I've just played my first tournament for North Harbour Club which was the Under 19 Nationals. My first Gold Medal!!! It's now less than two weeks until I fly out to Greece with the NZ team so straight back into hard training sessions. Very happy :)
