About

Christchurch Boys Choir

Project 2013-02-27 23:54:00 +1300

After the earthquake in 2011, Auckland Boys' Choir sent $1000 to help Christchurch Boys' Choir go on tour and have a break away from Christchurch. Now two years later we are going back to meet the boys who raised the money and sing with them.

But the choir will do more than that - we already have confirmed bookings for Holy Trinity Cathedral, MOTAT and even Christchurch Airport, and we haven't finished yet! It won't be cheap to do this - but it will be epic!

The choir is the very best voices from across a wide range of schools in Christchurch led by a talented young music team and managed by committed parent helpers.

Your awesome pledges will go towards the accommodation, food and flights for the 25 boys in the choir. And in return we have some great rewards - ranging from $5 for an awesome warm feeling, to $15 for being sent our amazing full colour tour newsletters, $25 for a postcard home from a choirboy of your choice (shamelessly aimed at mothers and grandparents this one) right up to having the choir sing at your home or function as the Premiere Pledger for $1000.

Do it because you loved "The Snowman" as a kid ("We're walking in the Air.."), do it because the one with the floppy hair is cute, do it because you found $5 down the back of the sofa and wondered what to do with it, do it because apparently giving is good for your mental health...but do it!

Today we received an exciting email from South America from King's Singer Chris Bruerton. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJcr6P5_fmk

It was exciting because it shows what the boys can aspire to musically. It was also exciting because it shows Chris hasn't forgotten us, and lastly it was exciting because tour hotel room turn out to be REALLY nice.

Halfway there!!

29/04/2013 at 8:36 PM

Today we made the half way mark and got this message of support from Tom Worthington. Tom stars in the musical Avenue Q currently playing to rave reviews in Christchurch. Whilst Tom acknowledges his singing style is completely different now he credits the choir with giving him confidence when he first started singing. As our motto is "confidence through song" we couldn't be happier. Thanks Tom!

Having made our final version of the video and gone live we were stoked to have to re-edit again because our Pledge Me campaign was endorsed by All Black Andy Ellis. Our new version is 19 seconds longer and a little bit more awesome.

We are now almost 10% of our way to our target, so please continue to like, share, tweet and email your crowd and make them our crowd too.

We didn't rehearse this week because of Easter Monday but we'll post some video thanks from our next rehearsal.

Thanks from William, Joshua, Matthew and Christchurch Boys' Choir
