Our project Lert.info is a public emergency alerting system developed for all New Zealanders by a small team based in Dunedin. Initial development began close to 10 years ago as we saw the need to develop a messaging system to alert people in times of threat to life and/or property.
We have created New Zealand's most comprehensive system for alerts, and since roll, have received a great response. What we need now is a small injection of capital to continue developing smarter options for new generation phones including auto responses that return the status of the text receiver.
Please visit www.lert.info
The differences between other systems and Lert are:
1) It is manned by humans passionate about informing people of alerts.
2) The one service sends multiple alerts - currently 9: (depending on availability).
i) Civil Defence
ii) Police
iii) Weather
iv) Councils (Local, District and Regional)
v) Power
vi) Public Health
vii) Bush/Scrub Fires
viii) Flash Floods
ix) State Highway closures
3) We use rock solid technologies with the support of an international and local SMS providers
4) ALL phones regardless of age receive alerts
5) Non life threatening alerts are sent to email addresses
We Need Funding to
a) Continue expanding the range of alert services
b) Develop a phone APP that will send alerts based on geographic location
c) Receive crucial alert info from victims with targeted location
d) Pay for 3rd party services such as lawyers, programmers
e) Make the service 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year
f) Recover some of the personal financial investment we have put in
Our Team
We have one programmer, Derek who is constantly improving the design and liaising with the app developers and sms providers, one marketer and Director, Stuart, and fellow director Ashley, the author who works on the technical issues.
