About

OH! Is For Opera

Project 2013-01-15 01:09:20 +1300

After the success of their 2011 Auckland Fringe debut, Opéra Risqué presents Oh! is for Opera - a brand new show in the Auckland Fringe Festival 2013 and we need your help to make our show as fabulous as it can possibly be.

Opéra Risqué are a team of young (and quite hip...we think) opera singers, all of whom are current or past members of the NZ Opera Chorus and who are out to show that opera is not what you think it is with a revue show based on operatic absurdity - Castrati and pants-roles and phantoms, oh my! If you think opera is only for the old, these ladies are here to prove you wrong. The show is an adults-only education on the subtleties, the intricacies, the delicacies of opera... Men dressed as women dressed as men, courtesans, orgies, tantric love triangles and plot twists more confusing than a season of Days of our Lives.

The cast consists of some of New Zealand’s finest young opera singers, cherry-picked by producers for their dulcet tones and bangin’ bods and incorporating dance, cabaret, satire and song.

100% of funds raised will go towards pre-show costs such as costumes (corsets! hooray!), lighting, sound hire and pre-show jitters whiskey (just kidding...not really)

Please check out our video for our last Fringe show. It gives a pretty good idea of what we do and this year's show is bigger and better (same same but different)!

Thanks for reading this far and have a lovely day!
