About

Get Me To South America

Project 2013-01-05 03:08:57 +1300

Send me to South America Hasta Pronto to document a world leader in Resilience planning - the transition town/village of El Manzano.  Grifen Hope from New Zealand and his Chilean wife are Permaculture visionaries, attracting people internationally to learn about social regeneration and a new design for a better world future.

Workshop at El Manzano:

I need your support to raise money for equipment to document an important event where sustainable builders from all over South America converge at El Manzano (February  22 – 28 2013) for a bilingual workshop that demonstrates how to build earthquake resistant houses out of basic sustainable materials from a variety of climatic zones including Patagonia in the deep south of Chile (similar to New Zealand's climate).  In New Zealand, people have experienced  a major earthquake in Christchurch with unnecessary loss of life from poorly designed buildings. The short doc's from this event could be invaluable resource for yourself and your community that will be published online.

El Manzano is seen as a leader in Resilence Planning having survived the 2010 8.9 earthquake with a year's supply of food that it shared with surrounding villages.  It is now going through a process of social regeneration inspired by Grifen Hope.

I also plan to take the permaculture skills I learn in El Manzano with me north to my next stop in Arequipa, Peru, where I will be embarking on a volunteering project working with disadvantaged youth, www.intiwawa.com.

I have some great rewards for this project ,so send me to South America Hasta Pronto!!!!
For any Businesses that pledge support small or large, their company name/logo will be credited in the film and and if it is substantial they can place an ad on my blog.
Businesses that are eco-friendly or proven to have the best sustainable practice will automatically have larger endorsement space.

 RESILENCIA:

RESILENCIA is the story of Grifen and Javeria’s visionary revolution in ideas that are now spreading across South America, paving the way for a truly sustainable future.  Griffen dreams of turning one of the driest deserts in the world into a food forest. The philosophy of El Mazano is where the community is at the heart of social regeneration. This is a powerful concept that I want to spread around the world, in images.  I believe that sustainable living is the only way out for humanity. I want to go, film, learn and then share with others.

Profile of Peter Marra:

The Director of  proposed film RESILENCIA, Peter Marra, was a finalist in the 2009 Asia-Pacific Child Rights Award, jointly organised by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Receaving a Certificate of Recognition for upholding the Principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child for the film Children of a Nation.
