KiwEVs⚡️ -REValuating Our Transport Future
Project 2021-11-26 19:32:23 +1300
KiwEVs⚡️ is an EV project to repurpose and convert ICE cars and trucks to full electric.
I'm starting with my 4 tonne Isuzu Elf NPR truck and converting it into full electric, After blowing up the engine on a noisy trip to Whangarei I had the idea of should I fix the old dirty diesel or trying a different route and make it electric? After some deep thought about the complexity of the conversion and looking online and seeing how others had done it to cars I thought I can do this (don't worry this isn't my first rodeo with mechanical things haha).
With your help I hope to use a nissan leaf electric motor and associated parts with battery pack and get rid of the dirty diesel and make it the first KiwEV electric truck woop 🙌🏼.
My Proposal:
My vision for KiwEV is to offer an alternative to buying new or secondhand imports by using top quality secondhand or locally manufactured parts and convert non electric cars and trucks to full electric cars and trucks.
Phase 1. Build prototype vehicles using off the shelf parts from Nissan, Tesla, Ford & GM. Starting with the truck above.
A simple cost breakdown is as follows:
4 month Rent of premises = $15k
battery (from 2 nissan leafs) = $10k
metal fabrication = $5k
various misc parts =$5k
motor and inverter =$5k
misc (tools etc) =$5k
Pledge Me fees =$4k
Phase 2. Move onto more challenging projects such as bigger trucks and trailers for contractors looking to save money on fuel and have a more reliable vehicle.
Phase 3. To look for other markets where the technology can be applied and grow these markets.
Phase 4,5,6 To be unveiled as we progress with development.
This round of funding is for Phase 1.
More funding rounds will be required as the next phases become realised.
So far prototyping and testing on motors and batteries are being carried out and finalised ready for our first conversion. The truck has been purchased but no premises is available as of yet
