The Legend Of Mohan - Hollywood Meets Bollywood Action Short Film!
Project 2021-09-03 16:52:39 +1200
The Legend of Mohan project began with a simple question – ‘what if a Bollywood protagonist crossed paths with a Hollywood protagonist?’. Our goal is to clearly communicate how these contrasting takes on modern cinema have influenced our filmmaking process within an action-packed short film. Films like Rocky Handsome, Ghajini, and Boss represent Mohan, our title character, an eccentric stylized protagonist following the trail of his missing wife. Bollywood action films in our opinion are hyperbolic takes on existing stories and mythology, often blending genres and providing a broader sense of entertainment. McShane, our Hollywood protagonist, inspired by films such as Extraction, The Transporter, and John Wick, is an efficient, grounded character who must adapt to an unknown adversary. Hollywood action films are based heavily on themes, character motivations, and a heavy focus on action fundamentals.
Synopsis
An angry, motivated police officer risks his career in search of his missing wife Neha, taken by the notorious arms dealer and arch-rival, Kali. Corporal McShane stakes out an operation run by the Kali. Inspector Mohan bursts onto the scene fist blazing and announces his arrival in an exuberant manner, plowing through guards and henchmen with ease. As the situation unfolds Agent McShane is forced to take action, making his way through the chaotic devastation caused by one man. Mohan is ambushed by an eager and trigger-happy McShane, their goals align to an extent, however, the hotheaded heroes refuse to work together, with the mission at risk of compromise, McShane subdues Mohan causing them to be cuffed together but forcing them to work together. Now forced to fight side by side, their motives and goals become align, they must fight their way to the Kali and save Neha from further harm.
Both Mohan and McShane are represented within complementary styles of combat and cinematography, respective of their themes and influences, our vision is to blend both forms of film combat and action within a cohesive and digestible story. We aim to collaborate with stuntmen and women across Auckland to help bring our characters to life.
