Hey everyone, our names are Josh and Kauthar, and we want to bring you into the world of performing arts! You know, the drama, the tears, the cut throat teacher who will stop at nothing to win, even if it means a little sabotage… okay maybe not all that. But we’d loved to show you the hard work that goes into it, as well as the passion and love that drives the students/ faculty. 

The Confidence Project will focus on Pform.nz a studio that is home to young teenagers, who are invested in the craft of dance, drama, singing and musical theatre. Pearl and Rose Stretton are two sisters who are the co-creatives that oversee the operation of the showcase, The Confidence Project. The Confidence Project consist of performances from the advanced senior classes, by the dance, drama and singing troupes that run every Saturday. The show will span over four episodes, covering the studio rehearsal, the costume fittings, the move into the theatre, and the big showcase day.

Being that we are both in our final year of studying TV and Screen Production at AUT, this is our last chance to go all out. This project is also very close to our director Josh, as he has been at Pform.nz since he was five years old, so we want to do it justice. We believe in this short documentary as much as he does. 

This short documentary will also be a chance to give an inside look into a studio that encourages the idea of performing arts being about having fun, building confidence, and finding lifelong friendships. Rather than it being about competition, and who is the best. 

We want to show the preparation and organization that Pearl and Rose put into this showcase, it is not easy coordinating 40+ students, but they do it time and time again. They truly love what they do, and that is something that is rather rare. 

The funding we get for this project will go mainly towards petrol/ parking for our crew, and catering, music rights?? Along with anything other added utilities that will go towards making this short documentary the way we envision it. 

Any amount of donation would be extremely helpful, and deeply appreciated. In all honesty we just want to make something we’re proud of. We hope that any pledgers reading this can see the heart, that is going into making this.
